Whats the deal with the two front toms on this mamma-jamma here?

drummer111
02-09-2005, 09:16 PM
nothing is wrong is just the angle of the pic and the bass drum is pushed out farther and the toms closer thats it

pappyhyde
02-09-2005, 09:18 PM
Yep - the only thing wrong with that kit is it's not in my jam room!

Oh wait! The fade is backwards! Duh...

Fixxxer

yeah...the FADE is backwards?!? whats the deal!

Chris309

Nah...Hook explained that a while ago...it's the lighting and shadows. I looked at it for quite a while and it made sense. That kit was up in the Pearl lounge at NAMM and they must've had track lighting. The shadow on the second tom looks like it's from a cymbal.

EDIT: I don't even think Epiarch could screw something up THAT bad, nevermind Pearl. ;)

ohhh, ouch, cheapshot!

i guess the funny lighting would be an explination, but its so perfectly upside-down, that it caught my eye

That's too bad that fade is messed up

gonna replace it?

Fixxxer
02-09-2005, 10:41 PM
oh, i already sent it back to pearl, they're great about stuff like that... Best guys in the buisness

(just joking, its not mine, thats from NAMM)

Well, I'd like to believe that was shadows. But even if it was, that wouldn't make the top of the tom lighter...its the same colour as the bottom of the fade on the other tom.
Or maybe its the other tom that is upside down....whatever the case, the tops and the bottoms are still opposite shades...

punkrockdrummer

It's just angles and lighting.

I'm just curious, what makes you think that Pearl would be STUPID enough to:

1. Make a kit that screwed up

and

2. Bring it to NAMM of ALL places

Seriously, think about that for a minute.

And one CAN'T be upside down, look at the badges.

That tom is upside down from what I can see but if you say so,I guess its not, dont see how not,but ok?Take a close look at the bass drum - it doesn't look like this color is a fade.If it's not a fade, then it is the lighting.[Then again, I could be wrong.]

Chris309
02-10-2005, 04:48 PM
OK, once again. If the tom were upside down, THE BADGE WOULD BE CLOSER TO THE BOTTOM LUGS.

Its just the lighting as both Chris and HOOK explained last week in another thread. That color is #142 Root Beer Fade.

Pearl had a lounge upstairs at the convention center.

I'm curious, if Hook already explained all of this, WHY do some people insist on beating it to DEATH?

if that is supposed to be a fade, then the finish on the second tom is totally ****ed. the bottom is the same color as the middle. how can shadows make the bottom look light?

its obvious the skin is upside down, the tom isnt u can see the badge in the right place and everything

I, personally, could give a **** what you have to say to justify it. In the picture, it looks like a mistake. Flame me if you want, that's just what I believe it looks like.

Good to know, thanks! And way to be mature about it too.

...and the Reference shot where it looks like the fade is coming from opposite ends...that was a flash weird photo thingy doodad. I can find another picture of that kit...it was set up in the lounge upstairs.

http://www.pearldrummersforum.com/showpost.php?p=1846048957&postcount=22

Once again, anyone here who is REALLY naive enough to think that Pearl would bring a screwed up Reference Series kit to NAMM for its world debut just has no clue. Really. I've never seen an EXPORT screwed up like that. So what would make ANYONE think they'd screw up a Reference Series like that? It would never have left the factory first off, and even if it DID it CERTAINLY wouldn't have left Nashville with them for the show.

xpearldrummer24/7
02-11-2005, 01:10 PM
Yea, but the fade's the same color on both toms, just reversed... I don't know, I just see something wrong it. I would like to see more pictures of that drum set, if anyone has them.

By the way, sorry for my assh0le statement, I went without sex last night, and so I had a ****ty morning :(

http://chris309.com/emotes/laugh.gif OK, fair enough. I'll reverse the rep next time around. ;)

Actually Hook said he'd post a better pic of the same kit. That would be nice in this thread to clear this all up for us once and for all.

Actually, there is no "skin". The Reference Series are stained and lacquered, not covered. ;)

Haha, you're the only one around here that actually signs negative rep. I admire your honesty.:p

What the hell is there to clear up???? You're all spinning your ******* wheels over what is probably a lighting issue regardless of who says what.....Accept it that humans err and even if I'm wrong and it was upside down, it's nothing to fret about. It doesn't change the quality of PEARL. It just means that humans actually do put the drums together themselves and not machines! lol

explain to me that if it's a fade mistake, why is theyr no fade on the bass drum?

IgiDrum
02-27-2005, 05:48 PM
Shadow would not do that. Ithink the fade is reverse by mistake. You can see mistake in MW catalog PG 3. It is a Silver to blue opaque finish.Fade on toms go silver on batter side an blue on reso side of the drum but on bass drum blue on batter and silver on reso side of the drum. When I order Mw I will make sure write down order of fade.

It can't be only the lights! It is backward fades. I think this is just a "custom-options" kit.

Good god, let this fricken thread die! who cares if it was the lighting or if it was a screw up......Pearl doesn't come into your homes and tell you how crappy your kits look or how well you take care of them...lol.....Shouldn't some of you guys be playing your drums or off fighting in Iraq/Afghanistan? Whichever you think is more productive.
Accept the things you cannot change :P
