Lets see what colour(s) stand on top of the others. The Reference Series is only avialable in Chrome Hardware, so keep that in mind!
My vote goes to Granite Sparkle!!! Amazing finish!

Purple craze: looks blue in one light but purple in other light. You have to like that. Scarlet is just simple and bold at the same time and there is an appeal to that too. Tough choice, but Rootbeer fade is my top choice.

With the chrome hardware, Granite Sparkle is definitely the ticket...
Although if they came with black hardware I'd probably go with the Twilight Fade with Fixxer, because I'd like to use my EX kick drums (triggering, so the tone wouldn't be relevent).

I'm pondering the idea of ordering a Reference snare in Rootbeer Fade to go with my MRX in Sunrise Fade. Does anyone else think these 2 colors look similar? I haven't seen any extreme close-ups of the Rootbeer Fade, so I can't quite tell.

1. Purple Craze (it is definitely blue..)
2. Red (not sure what they call it)
3. Granite (does look good, you could buy the Virgil Donati snare that would match).

I'm no photographer, so these really don't do the colour justice, but some of them are not bad. The snare really does look that good in the sun. And yes I know the 12" is backwards, its just temporary.

Thanks so much, Roger! That snare shot especially looks quite a bit like Sunrise Fade to my eyes. If I decide to do it, I think it'll look fantastic!

rootbear fade is the closest to my natural BRX.to add an 18" floor tom and 8" mounted. My hardware is gold plated and it would actually be nice if the reference hardware came in gold and the wood color natural. Maybe I will wait for awhile, Pearl may consider this option sometimes in the future if not what the heck; Root bear fade.

Hey fixxer, why not use your big tax refund from your boy (W '04)!
Ha ha ha!
I have ordered the granite sparkle. Hopefully I will like it. Since I have MRX in platinum mist and BRX in wine red, it seemed like the logical way to go. The rootbeer fade looks good but I was afraid it would look orange under the lights (look at the video, it looks orange). Can't deal with orange. The purple is not an option unless you are playing for Prince (or you are a little "vroom, vroom"). Black drums are passe, and the copper and ruby look too much like my other drums.
Oh well, once I actually hit them, I'm sure I won't care what color they are.

I think the red is the nicest.
Although pictures don't do it justice, the red is actually transparent and you can see the wood grain on half the shell. The red lacquer is also a micro sparkle so up close, it looks like super fine glitter is in the paint.
I am normally not a fan of red kits, but i would get this color.
So you can see the word grain through some of the finishes then. It was very hard to tell from the pictures that I have seen. None of the finishes make me sit up and say wow, but I'm sure in person they are much, much better.

Its CRAZZZY!!
Apoliogies if this has been asked before, but I wonder if you can order them with Masters colors? I would have to see the kits in person before being so rash as to dismiss them. But you know, I have always had my heart set on a kit in Vintage Sunburst!
But then again a nice sparkly kit would rock too!

Hey Stu --
The RF kits can not be special-ordered in other colors or with non-chrome hardware. Not yet, anyway.
You've got a Sunrise Fade - that's all you need! :D
Oh okay thanks. I am just adicted now, I have the SF MRX kit which is perfet. Then I got the MHX with gold hardware. If I were to get a Reference kit I would want it in a completely different finish, so that rules out the Red finish.
Actually I'm running out of room in my house now...maybe I should just settle for a snare.

Maybe I can help you out, buddy - I always accept donations :)
I completely understand the addiction - trust me when I say you're not alone. Down the line, I'll probably pick up a Reference Snare myself. But not for a while, as I just paid off my new (and soon to arrive), top-secret primary snare, and bought myself an 18x16 Sunrise Fade floor tom from Explodie.

Ah, was that an MRX tom? I think I was looking at getting another one from him, I think it was a 15" though. But being stuck in Germany I thought I should wait.

Yes it was! I'm ecstatic, because I could really use the low-end of the 18" in my alternative rock band.
A few weeks back, I was thinking about going for that 15x13 you're referring to, but the wonderful members of this forum - Russ, in particular - convinced me that it wouldn't be worthwhile next to a 14". It's hard to pass up something like that though, isn't it? Thankfully, the 18" showed up and I couldn't resist!
