Hey TimY, are they real purple looking?, do they show any wood grain, I ordered them based on the Pearl Color Indicator, which
I couldn't really tell, but I thought they'd look cool with the black
hardware, but I've never truly seen a good picture up-close of the actual finish. But I'm still stoked about them finally arriving,
If you have a pic of yours, please post if you can.
Oh, and congratulations, The BRX birch series is top dog, and I bet your kit l@@ks and sounds killer!

Peace!

They are a lot more purple than they look on the colour selected, and yes, the black hardware is the icing on the cake! The wood grain doesn't show through, but I think it looks better this way. My camera is playing up at the moment but as soon as I get it fixed I'll post a bunch of pics! Thanks for the compliments on my brx, I've had them for about 2 months now and absolutelky love them, and I am playing my first gig with them tommorrow night. I can't wait!

That's good to hear because on the pearl color selector they look
more bluish/purple and I was hoping for a more true purple
lacquer finish. Thanks for the description.

TimY - Good luck on your gig tomorrow :)

Hello,
I take it you don't like a variaty. Just funnin! I know 4ply vs.6.
I have a brx set and a yamaha beech custom which I customized
with pearl die cast rims and the tama starcast mounting system.
What do you mean by virgin on the 18x22?
Thanks Jack

Hey Jack, The "virgin" kick, refers to no tom mounts or no drilling
on the kick drum to mount toms. I mount my two 12" and 13"
to the left of the kick on a Pearl double tom stand. I've never liked the added weight of toms mounted on the kick, especially
because its a 4-ply thinner shell, plus you get the true pitch
of the kick because there no extra hardware or toms on it.

Cheers! Al

I own a BRX double bass kit that is incredible. Toms r 8x10,8x12", and floor toms r 14x14", and 16x16". Bass drums r 18x22", and snare is 5.5x14"
The drums are incredible both live and in studio settings.

Just wondering if you could speak, first hand, about the key differences of the MMX vs. MRX. I (as many do) went through a tough decision process and finally bought the MMX, which I love. But would like to hear from you on your feeling, especially since you own both.

Also, I have Midnight Fade....I think Pruple Storm is the MF with out the fade. It is purple, purplish-blue or blue...depending on lighting. I have lights mounted at the bottom of my rack that shine up on the kit and it's purple.....when I walk into the studio with the lights off, the natural light from the windows makes the shells a cobalt blue.

i would love to see the kit wiht the lights on it i like to see lots of pics of the same drum due to the lighting like my drums in daylight look like a turquise amnd it is hard to see the sparkle but when it become dark and the room lights are on the drums look much dark and a richer blue color with a hint of green and the sparkles are much more visable

Hello Midnight Mastered!
Well I own both, but only the MRX is here. Still waiting on the MMX. But I have played many MMX kits, and my decision for purchasing the MMX was for the following reasons: 1) I had the MRX (6ply) love it, good projection, nice, mids and highs, but not quite as much bottom end as the thinner 4-ply maple MMX. That being said, IMHO I've noticed in playing the MMX kits, they are slightly more resonate, the tonal differences between the two are not that noticable. I just think the MMX has slightly more attack and bottom end because of the thinner shell. I don't think the reinforcement rings gives it a higher pitch as some have stated. I'm happy with both choices in the MMX and MRX.

Thank you for the description of the Purple Storm, I love the purple color on the MF, so I'm sure I'll be pleased with the MMX when it arrives. I promise to post pictures.
