Hi Rory 444, I have a snare with the same heads and I keep it tuned tight. The reso is only 3 to 5 mil and its tuned tight also. Also make sure your snares are adjusted right so they don't buzz but snap instead. Be sure to seat the head as you tune it. I usually seat it twice during the process. Thanks, Rich.

This is a loose answer however... Start with the head finger tight only, then tighten each lug 1 turn.. then press down on head with palm of hand to stretch the head, about 20lbs of pressure, not to hard, then continue to tune head. you may want to do this several times. then wait a day for the final tuneing. this stretches or seats the head so it will retain its tuning longer.

Hi Rory444, I think dmerrell did a good job of telling how to seat a drum head. I'm always glad to help if possible. Thanks, Rich.

20-lbs of pressure is a gentle but firm! pressure, just make sure you are past the wrinkle stage of the head before you do this, and don't worry, you won't hurt the head. Yes you can play the drums the same day, but they will probably need retuneing the next day.

Peace
