Is the The pearl Cable Hi hat worth the money? I need to know if it has the durablity as a regular Hi hat stand to use as a second.

A remote hat has nothing to do with stability since it is attached to something else, a rack tube, a cymbal stand, whatever. OR, when you say "Stability, do you mean durability?. If so, i would not use a remote hat as a primary Hi-hat. They are smooth, but nothing beats a solid rod for response or durability. I do use a remote hat on my kit but its not my primary. I went with a DW remote setup after tryig Pearl and Tama's because i felt it was the smoothest and most rugged of the models i tried. Also, it comes with a drop clutch and everything you need to mount it, Pearl and Tama's dont.

Hey What's up Slipknot1,
This may sound stupid but I have a question for you.
I have never used a remote hat, but I'm curious about their main purpose. I'm not a complete idiot I just don't know anything about this particular device. So, what is it?! (lol)

The main purpose is to get a set of Hi-hats in a place you normally cant. In my situation, i have the remote hat pedal right next to my main Hi-Hat pedal but the actual remote hat set is on the right side of my kit between the rack and floor toms. It just gives you more flexibility in playing since you are not always stuck with your right hand on the main hats. There would also be know way to have a regular Hi-hat in that area. Some people also use them with some type of effects hats, like china hats just to get a variety. In the photo below, you can see the remots hat to the right of the rack toms.

And in this picture, you can see the remote hat pedal (The DW pedal) and the cable that goes to the remote hat.

Hey thanks Slipknot1 I appreciate the info. Of course I feel like a dumb-*** for having to ask but oh well.
Anyway, I like your setup man, do you have any pics of the whole set? Man it must have been pretty damn killer to hang out with Joey and the guys from Slipknot. What do you think about the side projects like Murderdolls and Stone Sour?
Take it SIC and Sleazy!

The pedal on the far left operates a drum trigger. Here is a front view, but the cymbal setup has changed since this was taken and the RIMS are now black, not silver.

I had the DW 5502 Low Boy with the 8' cable for a few weeks, but ended up exchanging it for the new Pearl model. It seemed no matter the tension I set it at, I could not get an acceptable response from it. I use 13" A custom/Z dyno beat hats, so it's not that they are too heavy for the design. Another thing I didn't like about the design is how tall the unit is, from the bottom of the rectangle where the spring is housed to the top where the hats sit. The Pearl design is shorter so it's easier to fit in tight setups. It would have been a nice touch if the Pearl unit shipped with a drop lock clutch instead of a normal one. I have yet to see a store stock the Yamaha or Tama models, so I have no idea what they are like.

Its also nice that the DW version comes with everything you need to mount it too. No other remote hat offered does that.
I'm not into the remote hat thing but I can see there purpose. I have seen a few posts here and there complaining about the inability to easily disconnect/connect the cable so it is a concern in transit, proper stowage and all.
Does anybody have one that is easy to partially disassemble for gig transport?
weps

Once you take the hats off, its really no big deal to transport. Just roll up the cable and the pedal and Hat portion will go with it. It weighs only a few pounds.
