I am looking for input on batter heads that would work well on my MHX bass drum. I like a very deep sound with very little over- ring. I play different styles of music but mostly rock at this time. All suggestions are welcome. I just put Evans Hydraulic blue heads on all my toms and they sound great! The bass drum is another story. It SUCKS! My son just put an EQ-3 on his ELX kit and it sounds great! I may take it off and try it on my bass. Has anyone tried the EMAD? Thanks, Rich. PS: I wish you could return heads. I hate waisting money!

I LOVE THE EMAD!! Now, it's on a far lower end kit, but it's still amazing. It's the only muffling I use, and it's punchy with very little sustain... I'd reccomend it to anyone.

i been using emads alot. only problem i have with it is it breaks easy. like the plastic ring that holds the foam cracks, causing a buzzing sound, and since its a single ply, it dents easy.

but the next head im gonna try is goin to be an eq4

As far as that's concerned, I can't really say one way or the other. I've only had it on for a few weeks. It does come with a nylon beater patch, and so far I've been VERY happy.

Thanks to all for your input. I ordered the EMAD Coated today. I hope it sounds deep. The Evans catalog says it has tremendous low end, we'll see. Rich.
