I'm looking into getting a new snare. I don't know whether I should get the MMX or MRX. It will be 6.5" x 14" midnight fade with black hardware. What are the highs and lows of each. Which would yall choose?

I like your hardware and color choices. But I don't know what your looking for in sound. if you want that nice warm woodsy's with nice mids and highs and not a overly loud projecting snare, I'd go with the MMX (4-ply). If you want all of that plus some projection, then I'd go with the MRX (6-ply). Both are excellent snare choices and I believe are priced the same. I only mentioned those two in particular, because you specifically mentioned MMX and MRX. The Pearl Maple, copper and bronze Free Floating snares are very popular because they have interchangable shells. So you can have both Maple and a metal shell if you like. The Eric Singer 6.5x14 10-ply maple w/mastercast rims is a unbelievable phat, beefy, loud, projecting, tight you name it, it can do it all snare and is one of my personal favorites of the Pearl snare line. Good luck to you Marinesrx87.
Let us know what you eventually went with.
