Joeys bass?

I know it looks alot cooler to have 2 bass drums and 2 pedals, but is there another reason why joey doesn't just use a double pedal?

Yeah, speed. He cannot get the same speed he can get with a double bass kit when he uses a double pedal. Its the two people jumping on a trampoline phenomonon, if they hit at the same time, it kills the rebound. I have witnessed this first hand. Also, a double bass kit will sound better especially playing at the speed he does since the drum has more time to resonate between hits.
