I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm certain everyone will agree with me when I recommend you check out some different heads - Protones are NOT known for their superiority. Most people take them off the minute they bring their new kits home. What type of drums do you have? If you're curious what heads will be good for what you have, create a post for advice in either the "General" or the "Hardware" section.

I think this is the first time I've ever heard anyone wanting to BUY Protone heads.
Do yourself a BIG favor and get a single ply clear head instead. Remo Ambassador or Evans G1.

Thanks for all of your replies guys.....
I wanted to check them out cos i heard the Pearl get Remo to make them - so I figured they would be good, plus they have the bonus of havin the pearl logo on,.......
but then again- you are right I suppose.... my dad has Remo weatherking ambassadors/ emporers on his kit - and they have hardly marked at all.
Now there is just one more question. :D ... do you know of any dealers / anywhere I can purchase replacement Forum series badges? (or just some pearl stickers....) cos one or 2 on my kit have been ripped off and it looks crappy where they SHOuld be.... so I wanted to put them back on....

^You're either high, r etarded or a severe n00b, but Pro tones suck. Really bad. I don't think remo makes them, they'd put their name on them if they did. Look into some Evans G2s or Remo Emperors.

If you like the Protone sound, try some Attack single ply clears. Not the Bozzios, just the regular Attacks. They seem similar to my ear.

go kill, and skin a few cat's and stretch the hides over your drums.....they will sound better.

ProTones make excellent frizbees. They are great also for fanning ones self on a hot day.

I thought Tama bought Evans heads for stocks, or was that Gretsch?

I've seen Tama labeled Genera's on their kits.
DW used (uses?) Aquarian and Remo head labeled for them.
Any Masters and up Pearl uses stock Remo Ambassadors.
Not sure of higher end Gretsch-but I think they use Remos, too.

Tama has an Evans Made Tama Head. Mapex uses Remo UX and UT, and so does Yamaha. On high end kits, Mapex and Pearl put Remo Ambassadors on Snare and toms, and Powerstroke 3s on the Bass Drums.

Best thing about Protone heads is you can cut them down to make perfect size/width Zero-Rings :D

I agree. Pearl heads...I think even the protone heads are basiclly starter head for your new kit. I would never recommend going out there and searching to find something that isnt't worth the search. After about 2 years of play on my Pearl Forum Kit I went out to my local drum store and bought the Evans Genera g2 not coated heads. And I gotta tell ya they are really good heads and very inexpensive. I hope this helps.
