for gigs I would get a 7x12" or 7x13" 25 ply OCDP maple snare, with black powdercoated hoops, with the word "koЯn vented into it(it may sound dumb to you but I like the idea)...and the color would be black serpentene(spelling) with 50% off set lugs...but for my kit at home when I'm not giging(when I'm in a band, lol)I would get that same thing, except it wouldent be vented and it would be chrome...

Titanium Ocheltree. . .there's no such thing. . .but the bronze snare i have is so heavy. . .and is not non heavy duty snare stand friendly. i'd love for ocheltree to make me a new titanium snare. did you all know that the dunnett 6.5x13 titanium snare weighs in at just over a pound? 1.265 to be exact i believe. . .compare that to the almost 30 pound snare i use.

Well, since its the next snare I am going to but it would be this...
Pearl Masterworks 14x5 6 ply maple shell in Ocean Sparkle w/ MasterCast hoops, Multi-Timbre snare strainer and all of this in Satin Hardware.

Masters Series Symphonic Custom would do it for me. I'd probably go for the 6.5" depth. Then I could take the two grand I saved NOT buying the Lars Ulrich and buy a Masters Series drumset to keep it company. :D
I'm sure the Tama is a fantastic drum, but for $2400 I would want Lars to deliver it personally and set it in the snare stand for me.

Steve Ferell Sig. or Kenny Arranof(sp??????) sig.
UltraCast 14x5. Best allround snare I've played.

The new Mapex Bell brass snare, but at the price it runs for, I'd want Neil Pert and Chad Smith to arrive at my house in a stretch limo, put the snare drum in my hands, and then tell me what a great guy I am. :D

id probably go with the DW solid maple shell with the brass lugs and stuff. list price is like $949.00. and i think the name of the drum is craviotto, correct me if`im wrong. but its a sweet *** drum.

Too many to list... just an idea though, 13x6 Titanium Dunnett snare with the single flange hoops. 14x5.5 Kepplinger Steel Snare with wood hoops, 14x5.5 Yamaha Bamboo Snare with wood hoop on top, 14x6.5(it might be the 6 i forget) Edge Snare, 13x5 Bronze Udrum snare, 13x5 Black Beauty Rip-off Black Brass snare drum, 14x5.5 Mapex Hand Hammered Phosphor Bronze snare, o and ya know what the list just goes on and on, including a variety of different woods, synthetics, and metals...
Out of all suggested there, next on the list...14x5.5 Yamaha Bamboo Snare.

hmm, I would have to get a 13x7 10 or 20 ply maple, black hardware, with a 'peacock' wrap, that would kick.

havnt heard too many really awesome or expensive snares, but I heard an ultracast in the last few days and it really sounded like the perfect snare. not sure if it was 5 or 6.5, but I think I would rather have the depth of a 6.5. it was really quite a killer sounding snare, but it may have been partly because of who was playing it.

powdercoating - $75 bucks

its a MUCH MUCH MUCH better deal than the OCDPs, they just won't do the psychoticly stupid **** (10ply is their thickest, and i don't think they vent) because they have class

Calling peoples ideas "Psychoticly stupid ****" is not cool. And wait and see where Big Boy, Masters Of Maple, Conaway, etc are in 5 years. They are budget priced, have alot less options and are not the same quality as MRP, OCDP, GMS, Ayotte, etc.

mine would be a maple 20 ply with lime green satin flame and glow hardware for the rims and lugs oh and the top rim would be die cast with the bottom being 2.3 rim. aswell as 42 strand snares and would have my bands logo as the vent:D

same here dex , but pork pies are trendy too. a lot of your blink like bands are playin' pork pies and noone *****es. what about all those big corporate endorsed drummers out there, go pick on the "guys who wanna sound like other guys in thatband" people
(no offense) like pearl or yamaha or tama players who's sets minus there finishes, sound the same. no one picks on dw either. ever since they decided to build there own shell s, there quality control has **** the bed. i've been told buy a couple high end costum shops that they see tons of business from dw owners getting there edges re-cut out of the box!!!
i've never heard anyone say bad thing about ocdp(as far quality goes) , even from other costum shops.
you people need to get off the band wagon , if you hate the bands that play ocdp like blink, go hate them (i do) but dont hate the drums .:D
oh dex, by the way LARS ULRICH endorses the tama bell brass snare i think he was one there first:D
Personally, I don't really care one way or the other for OCDP drums. I'd need to hear on to judge (and I don't mean on a record that has been mixed etc).

i recently tried out a couple EDGE snares by DW, and they have a pretty good overall sound... and the best rimshots i've ever heard!
they sound really good, perfect compromise between wood and metal. (the shell is brass/maple/brass, so it sounds pretty warm, yet has plenty of crack too.)
i'd probably get a 6x13" one

Specs....
The Starclassic Maple snare is the result of years of research to develop a high quality, professional snare drum - both sonically and visually. However, because we consistently strive to improve our product line with unique elements and options, our pursuit of innovative drum sounds did not end there. Input we've received from a variety of drummers, combined with expert craftsmanship and technology, has led to the newest addition to TAMA's Starclassic family: the STARCLASSIC G MAPLE snare.
This drum features carefully selected maple wood, molded 13ply/10mm thick. Shell depths of 6" and 8" create a rich sustain and a punchy, powerful sound. The outer ply quilted maple and the hand-set abalone inlay add a stunning finishing touch.
The "Starclassic" name itself symbolizes TAMA's ongoing effort to provide drummers with solid, cutting-edge drum sounds. The STARCLASSIC G MAPLE is the newest drum to bear this prestigious name.
Starclassic G Maple wins 1st Prize in the Snare Drum Olympics!

Well, I guess. I just remember on that recording (Creed) that snare was so, just, NOT cool that you could hear the sympathetic buzz, right on the song!
But my biggest bone to pick with those is that they sound SO much like a wood snare! There is a difference...but enough to justify like a $2,000 difference?
Oh well. I just don't see the hype about them.

love the sound of super woody sounding wood snares, but i also like metal snares, so i tend to prefer the extremes of both sides and i wouldn't buy one that supposed to be a 'compromise' sounding drum, just my opinion. Although i have tried out the spirit of 02 and it sounded pretty good IMO.
