I am giving my drums a good ol' cleaning/ waxing today. I have a few questions though:

1.) I have some car wax that I plan on using to clean the hoops and stuff, but is it was ok to use on the wrap? It claims to have no harsh chemical solvents.

2.) I want to get the rust off of some of my lugs, what can I soak them in or put on them?

I think that's it. I'm using some wax called Zymol by the way and I plan on getting some groove juice today to clean my cymbals. Any extra input or comments are very welcomes. Thanks!

Use a pure wax, NOT a cleaner/polish wax for the wrap. Cleaner/polish types have fine abrasives in them to remove oxidized paint.

How rusty are the lugs? A regular chrome polish takes off surface rust with a little elbow grease. Real rusty? Brass brush, then the polish. Leaving the part in a acid bath gets the rust off if it's bad. Acid bath? Nothing serious, just Pepsi or most Kool-Aids, that simple and low cost, low tech.

Groove juice. FORGET IT! Either use the cymbal cleaner made for the brand you use or just use an extremely mild abrasive (BarKeeper's Friend is GREAT). Most brass cleaners get tarnish off fast but may discolor your cymbals where ever the clearcoat is missing (just like groove juice ;>( But if you like red streaked cymbals.....

When using water in cymbal cleaning, use as hot as you can stand (heated cymbals dry faster) and several all COTTON towels so the last wipe of humidity you can see/feel gets wiped with a dry towel.

There's not a whole lot of rust on the lugs actually, just want to clean what's there before it gets worse. Thanks!

try blu magic metal polish. I don't know if this is the real name but heard good things about it.
