Planning on getting a second bass drum so I have to get rid of my double pedal and get two singles. Just so you know.

Drumspeed - I have an Axis double pedal and I love it. I've never played the eliminator.

ive just got an eliminator single pedal, been tweaking it for hours and i must say, my single chain p100 is faster. ive tried every cam and tension setting and powershifter setting and it feels crappy. may just be me, im goin through a bad drum time atm.never ttried the axis, how much it retail for?

I have the Eliminator Power Shifter double bass pedals, and I'm very happy with them.
I want to try Axis, but I heard that they are very expensive, AND they have a tendency to fall apart. In an interview with Neil Peart (from Rush), he said he used Axis, and dropped them, because they kept on breaking...basically every show meant a new Axis pedal.......
what is everyone's opinion????

I have tried Axis and was not impressed. They did'nt have much adjustability and were not as smooth as alot of the DW's and Iron Cobras. I have heard about failures of them also. Not many though, but then again, not many artists play them.

i have all pearl hardware for consistencey (and i just happen to like pearl) but you gotta give props to a company that specializes ONLY in drum pedals and has a good reputation to boot.

Axis makes more then drum pedals. They make Cymbal stands, Hi-Hats and snare stands too.

I guess I've been lucky because I haven't had any problems. I try to take care of them, but they definitely take the abuse. I have had to tighten up the bolts 3 or 4 times where the shaft and left pedal attach to the right pedal, but other than that, they've been great.
I don't have much experience with other pedals, so I can't compare, but the Axis pedals are fast. Adjusting them was tricky. It took some time to get the left and right foot to feel the same, but once I got it, it was great.
Man, I'd like to have the Axis hi-hat stand!

There is no question. AXIS is definately the fastes pedal on the market. But, that is not to say that the fastest people play AXIS. Look at Virgil.

it's the ability of the person playing it that matters most. I've played on most brands and models, and can play well using any properly functioning bass pedal. as long as it's not broken or totally worn out, I can adjust my technique to make any pedal work. i don't require a particular brand, or "feel" to play my best, although I do have my preferred settings when I play my own pedals. getting too used to one thing is not good. The more you practice-- the more control you will develop using any pedal!!;)

Axis RULES...but the Axis A is the one to get, not the X.
(Oh, & I just screwed up your poll...somehow I accidentally voted for the Pearl....)

Axis is probably the fastest in that it has the least weight and friction. Not as powerful as other pedals because the footboard is aluminum (as is most of the whole pedal) and not as heavy. But it is fast as hell. I was planning on buying pedals and stands from axis, but after experiencing the rigors of touring, I realize i cant afford less than the most reliable stuff; so I'm gonna get Tama pedals and stands, which, I'm afraid to say to so many Pearl players, are indeed the most reliable in quality and construction. (This is not to say that many people have had years of reliable use of other brands' stuff.)
Check out www.axishardware.com. Check out NAMM this month if you're in SoCal. Check out music stores. Axis does make the lightest hardware anywhere; I woulnd't rule them out for some players.

It appears you boys forgot about the pedal that started it all... The Ludwig Speed King... that is the fastest pedal on the planet, personally I think the axis is crap.

Thats your opinion, not a fact, the fact is technology has changed, the Speed king is a Dinosaur. There are alot of companies using technology now that out performs that pedal 10 times over. Eliminators or Iron Cobras smoke that pedal. But if it works for you, thats all that matters. If your playing is best accomplished with a certain pedal, whether it be a $20.00 pedal or a $600.00 one, use it.

ive heard some major horror storiea about parts for axis pedals...but i must admit i was wowed by their speed :)

Yes, the Speed King pedal is old, but I have played a lot of pedals including an Axis, and The Fact is, that the Speed King still competes. And in reference to the parts thing, yeah, Axis parts are a nightmare to get.... that's another reason why I like the speed king..... after 22 years, I've only had to replace on part on the speed king pedal.

actually, i have to chime in and say, i've been using my Speed King than my Axis. but the SK is NOT faster than the Axis, that's obvious enough. and yet, the feel of the SK is damn nice for heeldown.
My Axis A is unbelievably responsive and fast. nothing really compares to it. strap on a heavy spring, and its prolly THE best for heel up i've tried. but, its apparent that isnt nearly as powerful as many other pedals out there.
i put my bud's Iron Cobra on my kick last week, and the IC literally made it fire like a CANNON! unreal.
I've owned two Axis A longboards singles for about two years. They are very fast and great for heel-toe strokes, but axis pedals take some getting used to. When i first tried them at Guitar Center I didn't like them, but once I got a chance to fool with them for a while I love them. As for power. When the variable linkage is adjusted correctly I get amazing power from the axis. I think in the end, it's about the player, not the pedal. both are great pedals. I want to get some Eliminators as well, cause I love the feel of both.
-Ben
PS - Axis pedals easily durable enough for touring. Lots of people do it. I wouldn't use the stands though, they're aluminium not steel.

Do yourself a favor, get the iron cobra.
In my opinion, the eliminator and axis just don't compete in terms of speed and smoothness. (and I've owned them all and came back to the cobra).

you cant have the fastest pedal, it all depends on the player. control is more important than speed and the eliminator has that!

i had axis single pedals and they were faster than eliminators
i love axis singles. they r so nice. its just their double pedals that i hate. the slave always feels terrible compared to the main pedal. if ur getting singles then get axis.
but dont take my word for it. u have to try out and see whats best for u

Go with Axis. By the way drumspeed are you adding on your RMVs?

i bought an axis A model double pedal about 5 years ago. within 1 year the connection bar for the extension pedal broke. the seal for the ball barrings came undone and little balls went everywhere. I sent it in for repair and it lasted about a month. I had to wait 2 months to get it back, nice.
Since then I've just been using the axis single pedal and have had no problems with it. Great pedal, I'd just avoid the double pedal stuff from them.

If you have the money to keep up with maintenence (ie. new springs, the occasional linkage part) then I'd say the Axis, they're definatly the fastest pedals out there. That being said, I've got the Pearls, I switched from the Axis because the maintinence was just too much for me to keep up with, not to mention the parts were extremly hard to get a hold of. I'd if you want a real workhorse pedal, go for the Eliminator or the Iron Cobra.

hands down axis makes the best/fastest pedals (this is my opinion along with millions of more drummers:D ) in this axis vs pearl i say that people who never used an axis said pearl. pearl makes an excellant pedal, but axis is faster and more durable, and more expencive:( .
im thinking of rigging my own dbl pedal setup with 2 axis pedals but using a more durable link bar

Which model double pedal does Tim Waterson use? I know it is axis but do they make A's and X's in doubles? i would have to say just based on the world speed records set on axis that they are the fastest.

How about the DW 9000 pedals? Aren’t they fast.

Yeah, of course cause it's the most well-known pedal of the two.At the end of the day, i've tried (and own the axis') both pedals, and it's just a FACT that the axis's are MUCH MUCH smoother and lighter. If you want a workhorse go for the eliminators...wanna fly? A-X-I-S, baby!
The axis's aren't made for everybody, but you have the chance of trying them, give it a shot. There's only one way to find it out.
I personally own 2 Pearl Eliminators. If I were ever to leave them, it would be for the DW 9000. I've owned Iron Cobras and Axis (A's). And for me, they are not.
I use Axis all the way. They just work best for me...heres my pedals
