Francisco is a man we here in Los Angeles consider our own though he is not originally from these parts. Francisco started out playing with Dizzy Gillespie, Peggy Lee, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, the great band "Weather Report" Lalo Sciffrin who did the 'Enter The Dragon' sound track, the great 'Machito', and Carlos Santana. An original member of the band "Malo" along with Jorge Santana on the first 3 albums, Francisco was featured in a documentary by Les Blank titled 'Sworn To The Drum'. Auguabella has been a visiting professor at UCLA's Department of Ethnomusicology where he teaches both basic and advanced courses in Afro-Cuban music. Residing in Los Angeles and performing along the west coast with his band Francisco Auguabella & the Latin Jazz Ensemble, his new Cd "Ochimini" has been well received but I have to say my personal favorites are "H20", and the awesome "Hitting Hard" which was released on album in 1977 and then on disc in 1999.
