I know this has been discussed here before, but I want to ask Gene and Raymond if Pearl is planning to produce a legless hihat of the eliminator series?
And do you guys here think there is a need for a legless hihat?? I know you can use the RH-2000. But I want a straight stand, and the feet now always bumb on the 2nd bassdrum!
Tell me what you think

i made one once out of an old dixon hi hat stadnd ihad... i took it apart and put a pedal plate off of a DW pedal i had and bolted it to the bottom of my hihat stand and removed the legs completely, and I only have a single bas drum/double pedal, and mounted the dtand to my rack when i had the rack.

Right now there are no plans to offer a legless hi-hat stand.
I went as far as starting a Tech Speak article on how to remove the legs from our hi-hats but since it voids warranty, I decided to shelf the article for now.

I think you should post the article, but justr explain that it will SIZE=3]void warranty in huge font size[/SIZE] lol.
I think alot of people would do it regardless, because they want this.... i know some older hihat stands that don't have the rotating base is a pain in the ***** when trying to use a double pedal, therefore taking the legs, or one leg of and spinning the other two will help out alot of people... call it... hihat mods 101 lol

Yeah, gene, that would be great.
Or you can send it to the people who want it as a pm??
Please!

Let me show this thread to the headquarter guys and perhaps they'll let me pm it to those who are interested.

I use a DW high hat because the legs were removeable. I would definitely buy a Eliminator hat if the same option was available.

I had an original Tama Titan Legless hi-hat stand that I bought from Gene way back when at Drum World. Sadly, it's life was cut short after a roadie drove over my beato hardware bag with his Toyota Pickup (my DW pedals survived though). The past few hi-hat stands I have used, I simply hacksaw off the legs so they don't get in the way on the left kick drum. The DW stand legs are easily removable by unscrewing the 2 screws on the main down tube. Just be careful of all the grease underneath on the spring. The limiting factor of a DW turbo or the above pictured Gibraltar is the fixed base plate. If you want to angle the hi-hat towards you like Simon Phillips, it's not really possible.
I want to point out to Pearl how awesome the new clamp is for attaching a hi-hat to the bass drum. No more ruined left kick drum hoops from poorly designed clamps that don't fit properly.

Bostic, i think i am going to cut the legs off my Iron Cobra Hi-Hat too. I have the legs folded anyhow and use the bass drum attatchment to support it. I just hate the thought of using tools of destruction against something so nice. But i guess it will be worth it.

I know, I did have to tell myself I just spent about a hundred dollars on a nice shiny new stand and here I go with a hack saw tearing it up. So far I've done that with a medium level Yamaha stand and a Tama Stagemaster. I didn't want to buy a high end Eliminator or Iron Cobra knowing that I would chop it up. One downside is when the kit is at a club and you have everything off to the side, the hi-hat has to sit on it's side since there are no legs to hold it up.

The red points are where I used a full size U shaped hacksaw to remove the legs. That leaves the Yellow points which I just covered with electrical tape for the time being to prevents ouches. I'll probably use one of those smaller hand size hacksaws, and a lot of patience to remove the two stubs. I'd recomend covering the exposed parts of the stand with a towel of some sort to keep the metal filings from getting all inside.
As was mentioned before, this kind of modification will void any warranty of any sort, so anyone else reading, do so at your own risk. Again, I only did this because I'm a full time double kick drummer, and never need the legs on my hi-hat stand.

Brandrum, i actually looked at it last night and that is what i am going to do, drill out the rivets. After seeing how easy it would be, and the fact i could always re-attatch the legs i decided it was the best option.

efore I switched from double bass to double pedal, I played a legless Tama Titan lever glide that attached to my left bass drum. Great stand.

If u want a legless hihat stand, try the pearl HH800W (the one that comes standard with the exports) In 5-10 min, you can take the legs off of the stand. No cutting, just a flat-head screwdriver, a drum key, an allen key, and something to grip the spring when u are putting it back together (ie a pair of pliers)
The best thing about this is that the process can be reversed. When I dont take my second bass-drum to a show, I just pop the legs back on my stand and I'm ready to go.
It's really that simple!

The HH800W is an entry level Hi-hat stand. I dont want to lose all the durability, smoothness and function of a top end stand just so i can have it leg-less. I am going to simply drill out the Rivets and then if i ever need to, the legs can still be re-attatched.

I just drilled out the rivets and took the legs off, BIG difference in setup now. I have the stand in the perfect position now. Well worth doing!. Ill put some pics up later.

Gene, if you remove the legs, can they be put on again as well?
I'm seriously considering a legless hihat stand, since I can attach it to my rack and have space for my ddrum kick on the left side, but I wouldn't spend so much money on a stand which didn't have the option of putting legs back on again so I can still play it if I don't have the rack with me.

i have an older version of the H855 as well as 2 new 855 and i removed the legs of the old and the new... you can put em back on. the only diff. between the old an new is that u have to drill out the riviets to remove the legs

I'd prefer to see a better mounting system for a remote high hat. It just doesn't seem like there's anything decent out there to attach the RH-2000 to.
