I was at the Professional Drum Shop in Hollywood today and I found FIVE PC-3 clamps in their junk parts pile!

These are the rare and no longer made clamps that fit the DR-1/DR-2 Porcaro Racks.

If you're interested in them please call Jose at (323) 469-6285.

Each is missing the BT-3 bracket/gasket and the carriage bolt/wingnut. The BT-3's are common and the carriage bolts are available at hardware stores.

Gene,

I have an opportunity to buy a DR-1.

I remember seeing one when I was a teenager. Walked into a music store...the clouds parted...the sun shone down upon it from the Heavens above! Next to it was a life-sized cardboard likeness of Jeff Porcaro.

I am no longer a teenager and forget the actual dimensions of the DR-1. Would you be so kind...?

thanks in advance...

cheers!

...was the drummer for the group Toto. He past away in 1994. He along with Pearl developed the first ever drum rack...the DR-1 back in the 80's. The rack isn't nearly as up to date as the ICON but it's a cool rack....a classic!

cheers!

Here it is! Like I said...it's cool because it was the first ever! This is a pic of one that was selling on eBay a while back. The kit in the pick is just sitting there to give you a size reference.

cheers!

You're all wrong regarding Pearl being the first rack ever. In 1978, a drum rack was introduced by Collarlock in Vancouver, BC Canada. It utilized existing cymbal stands with numerous clamp configurations to support drums, cymbals etc. on 1" round tubing. Pearl & Jeff Porcaro collaborated on the square tube design several years later. It was then re-designed as a free standing A-leg model, which was replaced by the T-leg system. The company was in existence for many years before being bought out by DW who still owns the tooling & has introduced entry level drum sets with the Collarlock name in recent years. I still use various Collarlock clamps today on my Pearl MRX and electronic kits.

Mark,
Jeff actually passed in 1992. But his contributions to the Pearl Rack as we know it today, along with his drum tech Paul Jamieson, cannot be denied. It's a very cool rack that many people used during it's time! :D

I have a poster of one of his ads with the DR-1 in it, as well as the Omar Hakim ad from the same time frame... also with a DR-1. :) Here's the Omar pic...
