Does Pearl make the bass drum woofers like DW does. I heard the longer the bass drum the deeper and more punch it has. Also if they don't what does Pearl make to create such a sound. Whats the difference between a 24 kick drum and a 22 kick drum?
PS: Anyone seen the dw9000 bass pedals, they're awesome I think perhaps better than the eliminators.

Woofers are essentially a fad. Theres not too much point when you're mic'd up. Last time I checked Pearl doen't offer a woofer, although they can do 10" deep bass drums, and with the right parts, you could hook yourself up to one of those abnormal basses to make a nice woofer if that's what you really want.
Personally, I think that 22" is the perfect size of bass drum for any type of music. I don't think the 24" Really enhances your sound presense dramatically, but your look will become more "metal" (especially with 2 basses).
To set it straight. There is no pedal out there right now that can take the eliminator out of top'o'the line status. There are many pedals that can equal the eliminator, but as of now, we have no better technology to improve upon the eliminator. We are reaching a very great times for bass pedal inovations, and I really couldn't ask for more. Personally, having actually played them ( DW 9000's)will say that they are magnificent, and very smooth, but they did nothing that was any bit superior to the Eliminator, Iron Cobra, or Axis Long Board. They are simply another excellent addition to a currently very competitive bass drum pedal market. Any of those will do you great service.

thanx for your opinion TLD.
You could always go buy a DW bass drum and a woofer. or if you are going for a 22"x20" with an 6-10" woofer, you could buy a 16x26". Or you could drop the idea of a woofer altogether. Bozzio only uses them because they look cool, and add to a pro-studio sound. (quoth he himself)

Has someone experimented with the idea of playing two shallow basses?
A 20x9" + a 24x10"woof shoulds have the benefits of 20-24" basses combined, in theory.
20" for the punch and attack, and 24" for resonance...

I would say about 2 inches. yeh, I think that as far as basses go, 2 inches wont make much difference in tone. and diameter doesnt change volume much either. unless you want tonal bass drums like a marching band or somethin, the bass drum just goes boom. thats the extent of the noise. period.

I got my new drumset on Mrach 31st and i bought it w/ the eliminators. They were good, everything i wanted in a pedal. i adjusted the cams and everything to my prefrence and they were great. I only got the eliminators because I needed pedals while i orderd my 9000's. when you first try the 9000's they arent that great. Ive had them for about a month now and they are the best pedals i have ever used. I can finaly play along to metallica! They are by far better than any iron cobra, axis longboard, pearl eliminator, or any other pedal....THAT IS MY OPINION : )

just be carefull on tuning, and if you want a really deeper bass sound, use mics or triggers. i personaly use sometimes a bass drum trigger+alesis DM5 on a p/a equipement to get a deeper bass sound. works well for me, and add variety in sound

Another difference between 22" and 24" is that 24" is harder to play fast because it feels "softer".
As for woofers - they make no sence sonically. They look cool and you can use them separately as a special effect bass drum but a regular kick+a woofer don't sound any deeper then a properly miced/tuned kick all by itself.
Looks cool though :D

you could even do your own little experiment if youve got some junky, or good drums laying around. ive done it before, and its not that significant of a difference. but one question that i do have is, do DW woofers have a batter head? or is it just a resonant head? to me, if it were a resonant head, it would probably make a difference. who knows?! let me know!

It does have the batter head. That way you could just use it separately as a special effect bass drum, that's what Bozzio does

hmm...in that case, it musn't make much of a difference at all. a gimmick im sure.
i only say this because out of curiosity, i threw a bassdrum in front of my own, and it didnt make that much of a difference.
hmm.
