Hey gang,

This BAD BOY is not Masterworks, but it is a very hot limited drum..

It's called a FFX213AP and list for $995.00..

Guess what?? ONLY 30 MADE IN BLUE, 30 MADE IN CLEAR..PERIOD..No more after that...This is sure to be a rare collector piece..

This drum is honking loud. It is considered a marching drum, but is short enough to add to any drumset..

Call your dealer, and reserve it NOW! (I AM)..

UPDATE!! Like 10 left of each color as of 5-27-03 !!! Carl

element482- not to jump to conclusions, but are you gmsdrummer??? i went through old posts, gms's last post was on october 29th, and your first post was on the october 30th. you seem to type like him.

I would be most grateful if you could point me in the direction of such a drum, manufactured by pearl of course.
Otherwise I think you'll find a drum of the nature that I seek is presently a whisper in the dreams of a hopeful man.......... its sweet accents drift timelessly amidst an aural mirage of transcendent beats, uttering fables with each note played and equal only in its exquisite potency to the thunderous hooves of wild horses...

Hey Carl, gene said that these were special edition indoor marching snares, can i just buy a normal 13" indoor marching snare like this ?

The reason i ask is there is no way i can scrounge up that much money right now, and as much as i would LOVE to have that blue FFX, i cant afford it right now, and they wont be around when i do get the money together.

Carl Peterson
11-18-2002, 09:03 AM

The reg indoor drums are just smaller versions of the 14x12..Gut snares etc...The blue has snappy snares like a drums set snare..

If I get it will I be able to hit it as a normal snare? I mean I don't know if I have a bad conception of marching snares, but I always thought that we never play rim shots on them; or was I wrong ?
If I was; then can I hit it as hard as on a rock snare or what?

Carl Peterson
12-31-2002, 10:12 AM
This drum, although has a marching snare drum name-(FFX), its really set up like a drum set snare..Snappy snares, and combo throw off..

The wait on these is like 30-60 days, not 6 months, and true, you can get blue or clear..

Thanks,Carl

hey mikeB I can get drum stuff that was owned by greater drummers then dave weckl like kenny aronoff and gene krupa and ringo star...all I have to do is show up at my local drum shop with cash(not that much cash)(and yes its all reall he has proof):D

ClydeWJones
01-10-2003, 12:36 PM
Hey Carl. This is Clyde over at Drum Central. Just checking to see if some of those acrylic snares are still in stock.

I'm mainly interested in blue, but would also be interested in a clear if you could get black hardware on it.

BennyBoy
01-17-2003, 05:32 AM
I understand that the drum is in the line of marching drums, therefore it would have a loud projecting tone to it. But what sort of tone would the acrylic produce - frequency wise?
Also, would it be more sensitive than most of the drumkit snares?

ClydeWJones
01-17-2003, 11:08 AM
Well... let me put it this way BennyBoy. This is an FFX drum. We had these things in my High School marching band; there was a running theory that if we were to place a small dog like a chihuahua under the thing and pop a rimshot as loud as we could... the dog just might explode. We did have a lot of fun setting off car alarms with them too (not to mention multiple car alarms with the Pearl bass drums we had ;))

Now... acrylic drums (such as Vistalites and others) have been famous (infamous) for putting out massive amounts of volume. Ear-splitting volume. In other words... really, really loud.

Put the two together and imagine the evil possibilities.

As for tone, they don't sound like wood. It's a little hard to explain just how acrilyc drums sound. Maybe someone else can be a little more descriptive than I on that.

BennyBoy
01-17-2003, 07:28 PM
I realise that they would be loud. ;)

But I'm really interested in what tone acrylic makes. I'm sure that it would be a killer snare for a live gig setting as it would cut through anything, but I do a lot of recording work, so I was wondering how its tone would translate into the studio environment. It is a lot of money to spend on a drum - I need to be sure that I want it b4 I buy one.

you can definitely play shots on a marching snare...and yes, you CAN hit them just as hard as a drumset snare... but be prepared for the deafening crack to follow.

I don't think age has much to do with not affording it. I'm 19, and recently purchased a $4700 Canadian kit. It just depends on how good you are at budgeting.

For those of you who are wondering, I work 2 jobs and do 4 university courses, so that's how I payed for it.

I finally had a chance to take my new FFX out of the box yesterday, and played it..WOW..man, this drum is becoming my favorite !! Not your typical "vistalite" boingy drum..This drum is solid with no ringy "plastic" type overtones..I truly could not believe it wasn't wood..What a crack..Think I'll record with it just to see if it does well..I'll keep you posted..If you own one of these you know what I'm talking about..If you don't own one,and are thinking about it..well...you better hurry up or you'll miss the boat..This is a GREAT drum!;)

Went to my Drum Shop today and what do you know they had one of these babies in stock, and now its mine, and Carls right, they are a beast, think a 1/4 thick bell brass snare vented, then put on some sort of snare growth hormone and there you have the sound of one of these sounds i love it first time played nearly fell of my seat
