Nice kit! couple of questions though, 1st are those Istanbul cymbals? I couldn't see the logo very well on your ride. 2nd) How do the wood hoops make the snare sound, I'd be very interested to try that.

Turkish Cymbals, hand made/hammered in Istanbul. Nice cymbals. I think thats a Sabian 10" B8 pro splash there as well.
The wood hoop sounds great. The rimshots are amazing. A local guy (Newfoundland, Canada, makes them and custom snares as well) makes them.
Check it out www.stanbridgedrums.com. Pete Stanbridge is a great guy.
They are finger grooved solid maple with a protective laquer finish.
Cheers.
Dirk, very nice set and truly nice pictures of the Fade. I too am curious about the snare hoops, I've never used them before. I'm curious what made you switch from the steel hoops to the wood ??

Hi Dman,
Actually, I bought the drums used (10 mths old) from someone who has posted pictures to this forum before......I believe he goes by the name 'Big D'.
The wood hoops were already on the snare. They were natural and a little bulkier. I brought them to the guy who actually made them and he shaved them down, made a few adjustments for the snare and laquered it.
I have not played the snare with steel hoops so I would not be able to compare. Unfortunately, like I said in my first post, I am more of a hobbiest and probably would not be able to provide a clear enough description of the sound difference for you. Sorry.
BTW: I checked out Liona Boyd last night with guest, Pavlo (Classical Guitar as well) and band. The percussionist, Gino Mirizio, was absolutely amazing. Had a few beers with the guys after the show, a great group of guys and great musicians. www.pavlo.net

Dirk Diggler, What? you mean you aren't Duane? Why did he sell those after such a short time? I thought he was in love with those drums for as much as he praised them.

Bought them from Duane a few months ago. Friend of a friend told about the set so I checked them out while I was there on business. No worries though, they'll be well taken care of.
I am currently looking for prices on a 16 X 16 Floor Tom to go with the kit. The problem here is that there is only one Pearl Dealer within over a thousand miles, and their price is pretty high. I still am a little skeptical about buying a drum without first seeing it and checking it over. I read of problems others are having and do not want to go throgh the same.
Cheers,
