Hi, everybody. Newbie here. I bought this set new about a year and a half ago. It is an 8 piece set but they sent me by mistake two 10" toms. I sold one and bought a used 13" Export tom. I'm planning to unwrap it and lacquer it yellow, a la Bill Bruford.
What do you think?

Welcome aboard the pdf man :D

Gotta love black on black (got it myself) but I would instead of doing a yellow lacquer maybe re wrap it instead?

Have some welcome rep

Classic set up, and the black on black looks awesome!

A few pointers - and I'm not telling you how to set your kit up; at the end of the day it's entirely down to what you feel is comfortable to play, but you MIGHT find it more comfortable to lower the toms so they are closer to the kicks. Obviously not so they are touching, but try dropping them a few inches down, and maybe bring them closer to you. I always liked it best when I could get the snare tucked right in snugly between the two toms. Your hi hat, ride, and floor tom placement looks excellent; tho if you can, I'd move your crashes so they are more over the kicks, left and right, and maybe bring the second hats closer into the gap between the two floor toms.

Other than that, and of course if you prefer it the way you have, then no one here can tell you otherwise, it's a great looking kit!

Beautiful kit mate ! Black on black looks stunning. You might wanna replace those batter stock heads on your bassdrums by some Evans Emad heads, this would increase the sound of them drastically !

I just had to choose between PS Pro's and EMAD2's, and unfortunately had to make the choice without being able to play both heads, but I went with the EMAD2's anyway, and I'm a Remo guy!

The first bass drum head I bought was a Clear Emperor in '99. Then, in 2005 I bought a clear EMAD . After that, I bought a coated EMAD. I favor the clear EMAD.

Someone's hiding behind that pillar. Waiting for Beto Sabbath... You better keep an eye... Also beware of that hose in the first picture. Don't let it anywhere near your blackness...

I think it would look pretty slick with black hardware and yellow lacquer.

I'm new to this site and will post pics of my gear to give you an idea of my background. I would be hesitant to unwrap these. I don't think the wood grain would be pleasing to the eye or look well lacquered. I have a Sonor kit 100% maple in a cherry red lacquer. It only looks good because it is all maple. Take a look at the inside of the shell. That may be what the outside looks like but then again maybe not. I'd consider a yellow wrap with this kit. Good luck.

The black is great, is the color change still happening?

Alternatively, he could wrap it with a yellow lacquered veneer.
