Nice! is that regular silver hardware or grey(i think its called satin). the kit with gold stands behind it is also nice.

one of my all time favorites--ocean sparkle with satin chrome.

carl,
is it possible to order a MRX masters in this color? i'm just about sold if you can...

Very nice finish the Ocean Sparkle that is.

BTW Can Antique Gold be ordered in BRX anymore?

Joey

That with satin hardware would rock. Although, silver sparkle with blue hardware would be better...

Saw a blue tamo MW kit back in the UK last week. Cool, but not my cup of tea...

Ocean sparkle MMX, they tell me there's only one in Australia, so I might have to settle for natural finnish, but ocean sparkle would be hot. Best color Pearl's had since Pacific blue in 91-9 2SLX range.

is that color a wrap or a laquer? I know most sparkles are wraps but i was looking in a masters catalog and it was talking about pearls 31 step laquering process and didn't talk about wraps. The more i look at this set the more i want it.

mperry29
10-13-2002, 02:14 PM
no, it's a lacquer. i think these days, most sparkles are lacquers.

hoody,

down here in melbourne they told me that there was only one MMX Ocean Sparkle too. but i drove to the next drum shop, about a 45 min drive and found another guy selling an Ocean Sparkle, only this time with satin hardware. looks very very hot!

Drummer magazine here in australia says that Lemon Burst finish on a masterworks is a limited color and there will only be 5 in australia. but i asked the guys here and it seems that lemon burst is a stock finish.

Carl, I definatly would buy it. It reminds me of my teachers old round badge Gretsch kit. Anyway, that baby combined with satin hardware makes me drool. I think I need a bib.

i know a guy that has a $3500 original Bady snare in stave construction jara wood (4x14"). its so early that there isnt even a badge on it.

his friend was willing to trade him a whole MMX kit in Ocean sparkle for that one snare.

Odd... You would think only Innovation would be cocky enough to charge that.

Sorry,but no snare is worth that..yeah I know I know..Black Beauties included..Its a drum people..

I gotta agree with Carl. . .I just paid $600.00 for a bronze Dunnett and that's about as much as I can see spending on a snare and I'm not sure I'd ever spend that much on a drum again.

And yes, the Dunnett is incredible!

yeah i no that its not worth that much MORALLY. you could get a Paiste/Ocheltree snare for less than that.

but i swear i was there when i heard the guy offer him his whole kit for that snare. but he does have like 3 kits, so it wasnt THAT much of a setback for him.

and BTW carl, if you are talking about LUDWIG BB's (the oldies) then you are right. but if you are talking about SLINGERLAND BB's (oldies) then you are mistaken (not to sound harsh). the slingerland BB's can go for the same as the jara.

and BTW, i was saying $3500 loosly and in terms of if it was sold on ebay.

thanks everyone.

No way its worth 3.5 large in your monopoly money. I could buy one brand new for $1500 Aussie pesos, = about US$800.
Not worth it, for the best recording snare you can buy, it's a bargain. Will soon eclipse black beauty as most recorded snare. You wouldn't know it because endorsee's can't blab about using other companies snares (and sometimes whole kits), just ask producers and engineers.

I was offered 9k for a Slingerland BB..I said no..Theres only like 3 in existence..and no..its not for sale..I was talking about the old Ludwigs..:D

but this one isnt a new one that you could just go out and buy and have the same price!! its this much beause its an original and most likely one of the first 20 to be made by Brady.

Carl, you got any picks of your Slingerland BB? I am really interesting in vintage gear!

I'm not a fan of the satin hardware with this finish. The sparkle is a bright finish so it should be complimented with shiny hardware. The satin looks kind of dull next to the sparkle. I am a fan of the satin crome in other finish combinations. just my opinion.

Carl, You have a sweet vintage collector snare and you dont even play it? I bet it sounds amazing. If you're not gonna play it atleast have it in a pexi-glass cube or something hehe. With infra-red lasers around it. And hire a security guard to patrol around your house. That would really suck if the storage place threw it out or something. I bet you're gonna check up on it now. :p

To me that ocean sparkle would look alot better with black hardware. It looks nothing like it does on the site. Which is kinda a good thing.

Im not too big on bright blue drum sets...and the sparkle doesnt do it any justice. IMO they just wasted some perfectly good shells.

The sparkles seems too flashy to be with satin hardware.

This set ain't for me..

It's a beautiful set but I'm partial to fades myself.

Someone mentioned Tamo finishes and I'd have to agree that they are the hands-down winner in the "looks" category.

To be completely honest, not to 100%.
I didn't informate myself enough about other Masters then MMX because I thought MMX is the top-of-the-line kit in the Masters series. So I didn't look at MRX and BRX and the differences. It's not the perfect kit for my music styles, Hard Rock/NuMetal.
And I'm not very satisfied with Antique Gold, it doesn't look as beautiful as I thought when I saw pics in this forum.
