I've heard about a new Marc Quinones signature timbales from Pearl. Could you give us a hint? Material? Approximate date of availability?

Yes, I bought one of your practice congas ... I like it, and it's great for bridging the generation gap between me and my kids! They love to play it too, and I don't have to worry about them damaging the bigger drums!

By the way, I've been trying (for several months) to get a copy of the percussion video in which you demonstrate all of the Pearl percussion products (through a local Guitar Center store) and they keep telling me "it hasn't come in yet."

Can you tell me if it's in stock at Pearl or not? Is there an easier way to get a copy of it?

Hey Ray, I did catch Marc Quiñones @ the Leno show the other night playing with the Allman Brothers. He did have a minimal set of two tumbadoras (conga + tumba). Seemed to me that he was playing Pearl Wood Elites in the Island Shadow finish. Pretty interesting combination of two drum set players and a percussionist.

Yeah, the current issue of DRUM! magazine (pink/green cover art) has a feature on The Allman Brothers Band rhythm section, including an illustration and description of Quinones' rig.

You are correct in that he does use (2) Pearl Elite wood congas, Elite wood bongos, and Elite timbales.

Yeah, missed the ABB in the Tonight Show! (Saw it posted in the ABB site too late). Always found the ABB insteresting because of the three drummers.

Yeap! Pearl is getting the Q&A guys in promo. MQ is in the previous Drum magazine with Bobby Allende and is in the current all by himself promoting Pearl Percussion. (I think MQ won the Rock Percussionist award from Drum). I browsed over the previous month or currrent month Modern Drummer or Drum and saw a short feature on the ABB (just one page). Is that what you are talking about? or, is it something else?
