Hi there,
I am requesting info about these drums if anyone knows anything about them. I am out of town visiting my parents and a local used and vintage place has a set in "Ringo Style" Blue Oyster in the classic 8" x 12", 9" x 13", 16" x 16" and 14" x 20" bass. I have a feeling that they were "student" model drums. Anyone know for sure?
I don't know a ton about Rogers. I can tell you that on this kit the previous owner appeared to replace the floor tom leg brackers with the "diamond" brackets. I can see the extra holes in the shell that are a different hole pattern then the brackets on there currently. Also, the tom holders/brackets have been replaced with the Swiv-O-Matic holders. Again, the holes on the toms and the bass drum don't correspond to the current brackets, so I know they weren't just simply "moved". My guess is the previous owner wanted to make these look more like professional Rogers drums. I assume the old brackets (which again, I can see the holes in the shell) weren't top of the line Swiv-O-Matic stuff and the previous owner wanted them to look more professional.
I can tell you the insides are painted with a light coat of gray paint. The only drum with a name badge on it at all is the Bass Drum, which just has a big "R" and then -360. It looks like a foil sticker. The lugs are pretty damn big and very rectangular, and have three grooves in them, almost like classic Ludwig lugs on steriods. The bass drum hoops are chrome (metal) with wrap on the outside, which is another hint they might be "cheaper" Rogers.
The store is saying they are from the 1960's, but I thought these were from the 1980's?? Also, they want $650 for the drums. I am going to try to talk them down quite a bit. They are in immaculate shape, the only blips being the extra shell holes. Any info you could give me would be great! I am only in town for another day and a half, so I would appreciate your timely info alot. Thanks a million!
