Drum313
09-15-2002, 07:00 PM
Sure... but first, do you want to see woodgrain through the finish? If so, what kind of wood?
:)

Fixxxer
09-15-2002, 07:19 PM
No wood through, and put it as a snare if possible, thanks

Glad you like it! The real thing would look a whole lot nicer though, obviously.

I took the liberty of resizing the pic, (to "avatar" size) in case you want it.
:)

Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to see a "sample" of.

Hi drum 313, I've been admiring your work for a long time now (your drums look so real!)...i was wondering if you could do a black drum, with scattered silver sparkles in it....this is a finish I've always thought about and thought it would be cool to see...if ya can't, it's no problem at all...thanks for your time :)

GrooveMaster,

I can do that... no problem... just let me know what kind/color hw you want, and also, how much "sparkle" do you want? Also, I can do it with small "microflake" kind of sparkles, or larger ones... like on Carl's "Comet Sparkle" drum. (Below)

Just let me know and I'll get to work! :D

GrooveMaster

hey, thanks...just regular chrome hardware, and the microflakes would be cool too....thanks a lot

I've said it before and I'll say it again- Great job man.

OK- since everyone else is making requests for finishes here's mine- Midnight Fade with lightning bolt graphics, and an avatar sized one please. I almost forgot-black hardware. Sparkles might look cool too, but use your judgement on that part.

Thanks-
DS

BTW- Pearl should really consider hiring you to test new finishes.

Drum313

Thanks for the compliments everybody!

GrooveMaster- I'm glad you like it :)... I hope it is close to what you had in mind.

Joey, GMS, Dylan and everybody else who reads this- I'm not sure about posting pics with hw colors/shell finishes that are either unavailable or most likely unavailable from Pearl.

I post these "samples" in the hopes of helping you guys find the "finish of your dreams" for your new set... But I don't feel right posting "pictures" of products that Pearl doesn't/will never offer (but have the Pearl logo on them anyway) on the Pearl forum.

The reason I am taking this position on the issue is that some of my posted "pics" have found their way to other websites. (Sales sites as well as people's "drum galleries") How does it look for Pearl if pictures of drums that they have never/will never offer are floating around the Web? It raises all kinds of issues that I would rather avoid.

I hope you understand my "policy"... I certainly don't want to be a "Pearl counterfeiter"!! :D

I will try to do those pics for you if I have some free time though. I'll EMAIL them to you if I get 'em done. :)

Again I hope you understand, and thank you for the compliments!

Happy drumming
- Sean

Drum313 has a point..

We don't offer white hardware..Posting pics of gear we don't offer is not advised..Great work on the gear that is within Pearl's realm though..It looks fantastic, and is a great help..I certainly appreciate it....

That finish on that drum looks VERY similar to my ludwig acrolite, just mine has more sparkles to it, it's a very cool color !

So...it wouldn't be possible to get coloured hardware on a Masterworks? Even for an obsene amount of money? Just wondering.

09-24-2002, 10:51 PM
Drum 313, is it possible for you to make me a picture of a 14x6.5 Masterworks snare drum w/ Black Hardware, but here is the hard part.... tamo outer layer, but can you make the finish like the Ayotte Purple 2 way fade?

Drum313
09-25-2002, 10:44 PM
I'll give it a shot... :)

If I was ever able to afford a Pearl Masterworks set I know what finish I would like it in. The Green Sparkle that Pearl already offers but a fade. I dont know if theres such a thing as a green sparkle fade, but I think it would be awesome... especially with black hardware.

MikeB

Sparkle fades can be pretty cool.

Drum313

OK- here's my version of the "Purple 2-way fade".

Hope it's what you had in mind! :)

man....that is one wild looking finish....i don't know if it's for me, but that's gotta look very interesting on an entire kit!

Drum313
09-27-2002, 03:35 PM
Yeah, it'd certainly be a cool, unique looking kit!

Here's a guess as to what "Green Sparkle Fade" might look like;

Hey, Drum313, while you are doin Tamo snares, can you show tahat silver-black finish on Tamo?

Joey
09-27-2002, 08:40 PM
Wow...I think I'm the only person on this board who thinks Tamo finishes are ugly. Oh well.

There is one I like (it is used by Alien Ant Farm's Mike Cosgrove). It is a yellow to green fade over tamo, with black hardware. Its called dirty fish tank.

Makor
09-28-2002, 01:56 PM
Man, how do you make those pics

jddrummer666
09-28-2002, 02:08 PM
wow, that looks so awesome. Thanks drum 313. Thats what my dream kit looks like.

Yup, dirty fish tank is from DW.

Drum313

Carl calls it "Lemon-Lime Fade"... you can see a pic of it (with gold hw) on his "Masterworks Available Now For Sale" thread. (http://66.40.220.17/showthread.php?s=&threadid=959) It's the first pic there.
:)

Drum313
09-28-2002, 08:26 PM
:)
Makor- It's quite simple, really. I'm just INCREDIBLY talented! ;) Actually, I use Adobe Photoshop to change the colors and such.

jddrummer666- You're welcome. I'm really glad you like it. :)

Fixxxer- here you go... :)

Makor
09-29-2002, 05:55 AM
So you have pic the hardware and then you paste the shell to the pic, right?

Do you color the shells yourself or where do you find them.

Of course, I donīt want to lurk your secret :)

Joey
09-29-2002, 08:08 AM
No he has a pic of a snare with chrome hardware. He edits it so it has the correct hardware, and then does the same for the shell.

Makor
09-29-2002, 08:49 AM
But how do you make the tamo graph

Joey
09-29-2002, 08:51 AM
Methinks I know. But I'm not gonna tell.

Fixxxer
09-29-2002, 05:25 PM
that is cool, but not worth a couple 100 more dollars

Drum313
09-29-2002, 06:23 PM
Actually, I started with a pic of a Tamo drum (it just so happens it was the "lemon-Lime Fade" pic Carl posted in his "Masterworks Available For Sale" (http://66.40.220.17/showthread.php?s=&threadid=959) thread.)

Using that pic, I set up a Photoshop "template" of sorts which is the beginning of any pic I post. From that I change the hw and or shell colors as needed. That's for tamo drums of course, for the other stuff I use my amazing superpowers!

Hey Drum313! You seriously know how to manipulate that photo shop deal! Great job! Personally I was digging the snare drum you have as your little icon. The one that looks dark green. Is there a possibilty you could post that but in a sunburst? Going from black top and bottom, into the darg green in the middle. Over Tamo if possible. And with Gold hardware? I cant find any really good green drumset colors that i like. I think that would be as close to my dream color as I could get. Thanks tons!
