My school just started band camp for this year and we're really excited about our show. We have a "gypsy" themed show. We haven't really decided on a name yet, but it's in the works. This show features the battery and front ensemble. Our music is more difficult than last years music but our line welcomes the challenge and we're almost all the way through the music. The colorgaurd will really set the theme with their uniforms and flags and they will most likely have dance team type routines.

What's your program's show?

hey dude. we start band camp this coming monday but the battery and guard has already learned half of the drill for the opener to give the band something to guide to when they learn it. anyways, our show is "The Laws of Motion." Music is: Force, Inertia, Action vs. Reaction. it should be a fun show.

the music is a little difficult but the percussion is already through the whole opener after 3 days of practice. course it's not the best yet with it being early. our show is more of a feature of the pit. although the music is maybe a little harder than last years since with the snares we never had inverted cheeses in the show, but all of us had played them before and the fact that our snares have been playing together for 3 years.

most likely from you being from louisiana you won't see our show since we only perform in Mid-States Band Association. good luck to you and anyone else on the forums.

You guys are lucky. We don't get the show music until band camp :\
We're playing a Rock Show this year. Bohemian Rhapsody, School's out Forever, etc.

this was the first year in my four years (i'm a senior this year) that we had our music before the summer started. this was only because our percussion director didn't have to write the pit parts and only had to write the battery parts.

Kind of the same here. My band director bought the percussion book so we had the music by the beginning of summer.

Our show theme was originally "Bugz," but our staff noticed the show had cool music but nothing really to do with insects, so it could change by our first competition.

The school I teach at played that show last year.

There are actually quite a few bug references throughout the show. The most obvious of course being "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" to start the 3rd movement.

We started band camp last Monday and within the first few days of camp the battery is reading through all four songs. We've got the first two memorized and we just have to clean them. We put drill on the field Friday for the opener. It has some pretty easy sets and tomorrow we'll be adding music to it. Our goal is to get the whole show on the field before the end of band camp, and it's looking like that is a good possibility.

I have a good feeling about this year. Our line has matured and we only have one Freshman, so it's almost the same line. Things are coming way faster than last year. :)

New World Symphony is slowly becoming the best show heard from this drumline. The music is coming together smoothly!

Our Band isint that great, were playing grade 2.5-3 rolling stones, the music is really simple. band camp just started today for percussion, we are being helped by a guy named Kenny (forgot last name..) from Gardner Webb University. Hes not the best, but hes pretty good, and our drumline isint that great. some of the people dont care that much about it. But we sight read some.

we have 5 basses, 3 snares, 2 tenors, and one person on cymbals.
We have yamaha sFz drums. they are still in pretty good condition, we just need new bassheads D:

Sweet sounding show!

Well, we were out on the practice field today, and the skies opened up. So we ran and got the battery equipment and then went back to help the pit. On the way in with our concert bassdrum, the stand broke and the drum collapsed onto a nearby post, going straight through the drum. :(

It's time for a new bassdrum anyway! lol

Reminds me of the time this kid my 9th grade year ran with the xylophone. Hit a rock flipped it and every single bar went flying.

Ouch! Sounds like a terrible way to wreck the keys. The keys were fiberglass?

Nah, They just had some scuff marks they still are in the band room! The frame is about to go on them. Thank god it wasn't our marimba.

Oh, ok.

On our newest xylophone, 3 of the keys are pretty much wrecked. The sides are cracked and splinters are a plenty if you decide to rub up against it.

Our show is a 70's rock. we half a ratio of 1:1 freshmen to returning members, so had to bring the show down a little bit. Songs include Tommy Part 3, a custom written medley of Kashmir and Immigrant Song, and Free Bird. I rewrote the drum parts for Tommy and Free Bird, and the writer of Kasmir/Immigrant writes drum heavy parts, so I fortunately didn't have to touch that. It's gonna be an awesome show.
We ran into a snag though... We ordered heads back in April from music 1,2,3 and they haven't come in yet. So we called them and they said "yeah, sorry about that, but we don't have any records from before july" so we're pretty much SOL! agh.
