Acrylic?

This may seem like a dumb question but I was considering building a marching snare and I was wondering if acrylic can handle the high tension of a marching snare head. I think an acrylic marching snare would be pretty cool, but I have no idea whether it would work or not.

I think it would work if you ordered by component an edge ring. I can't recommend which company to get it from though. Whatever you want... It's a cool idea. That drum would be crazy loud to.

Somebody here in this Forum has a Pearl FFX with acrylic shell.

yeah, i remember that as well. there were only a few of them made. someone here did have one and it was extra short. like 7 inches deep or something. It was definitely shorter than an articulite. and it was a fourteen. it was pretty like blue tinted acrylic. crazy awesome.
