How the heck do you guys get more than one photo on a singly post?

Kit is an ELX in Ebony Mist. The sizes are as follows:
8 x 8
10 x 8
12 x 10
14 x 14
16 x 16
13 x 11 (removed from the original kit in favor of the 14 x14)

Cymbals are:
18" ProSonix Crash
14" Regular Hi-Hats
12" AA Splash
17" AAX Stage Crash
20" B8 Ride
16" B8 Thin Crash

I regret the B8's now but they were part of a starter package that was priced right. Eventually they will get replaced with either AA's or AAX's.

Not that tall actually. Only 5'10". I play heel down on the bass drum though and I find I have better speed with my leg at a higher angle. I'm not all that thin either so "the belly" is more out of the way when I'm higher up.

I see that redish tint inner shell in that one drum you added ( 14" I think ), and the rest is that newer off white inner shells.

Yea. I noticed it's a lot darker than the others. Don't know what the diff is. I don't think the lighter one's are poplar. The kit was shipped to the dealer late in 01 which should make it mahagony. It sounds the same as the others.
Is that what that one post about red, white, red drums is about. Just the inside tint of the shell?

And that's why I am sitting here today Missing 5 drums from my kit. When I got my export and Fusion all in the same week. Export was reddish inside and Fusion was polar. When you set it up in size order, it looked like crap to me and played on my eyes looking at them. So I took it back and this is before any one knew that Pearl used a different mahogany type of wood in there export kits. So I turned the Fusion in hope of ordering one that matched my Export only to learn that the reddish tint shells are dropped from production based on that wood not being able to be supplied in high volumes that Pearl needs. Sure you read that thought. So now I'm waiting on that kit only to really go back and change out my export Toms 12,13 and 16 for newer ones that have the polar inner shells.

Now maybe you with that one drum can live with that. But looking at three of them mixed in with darker ones wasn't cutting it for me.

Yea. I can see that getting on your nerves after a while.

Do the drums sound any different one tint to the next? If not, I might have asked the dealer to give me some new heads like ebony pinstripes or something so I could not see through.
The Protones are ok, but I'd be replacing them anyway.
It could be a good way to get better quality heads and give the dealer an easy out he can live with.

Do't get me wrong. I can certainly understand your position.

Cam do what I did with an old 13x11 Forum tom. Turn it into a snare! You can buy the butt plate, strainer, snare wire, and if you are good at woodworking you could file down your own snare bed. Attach the hardware and your done. You have a cool 13x11 effects snare!

you could also use it as a tom next to your snare and by your hi hat. ac yammi i wanted to do that with my 12 by 9 tom, but i'm not good with wood.

It's really quite easy! Do you know how to use a drill? If yes, then you can do it. Do you know how to measure things with measuring tape? If yes, then you can do it! The part where you have to either sand down or file down the snare bed can be tricky and you could have someone that does work with wood help you do it.

Sounds like a gameshow, don't it?

I have to be honest. I don't ususally play with that tom way the hell over there. I removed it from my kit in favor of a 14" floor tom (which was supposed to be a rack tom but somehow got screwed up). Anyway . . . I was playing one night and I heard a voice calling to me. It was my 13" tom. It said "Cam, you gotta play me pal. I can't stand being here all alone." At that very moment I broke down in fit of emotion and without a moments hesitation mounted (oops, poor choice of words) that 13" tom on an old snare stand and made it a part of my kit again. Shortly after that I took some pictures and well, the rest is history.
What's the meaning of this yarn you may ask. . .
NO MATTER HOW MUCH CRAP YOU HAVE, YOU SOMEHOW JUST GOTTA SQUEEZE IT IN SOMEWHERE.
Life's a lot like that sometimes.
