hi there,
im new to the forum and only been back into drumming for past twelve months, starting to build my kit up etc, but i took it apart last week to reset it up and give it quick clean and my cymbals now look worse than ever, i have xs20's as listed below and there were basically a bit dusty with some finger marks on then, i used groove juice on them , but they now covered in stains and the grooves seem to be full of black 'something', can anybody help and advise how get them nice and clean.i know this sound a bit anal but i like my kit to look good.
thanks in advance
lookin forward to reply

Did the stains appear after using the groove juice? Nothing's wrong with your solution, right?

Just a long shot, does the black stuff buff off? I remember my friends cleaning the Zildjian stadium cymbals and they looked terrible until they washed them off and buffed off the dirt.

Give them a good run through in a bench grinder.

It's probably just the tarnish (for lack of a better term) that the groove juice lifted from them has settled into the grooves and dried. You can try mild soap and water with a washcloth to get it off. It's probably going to take some elbow grease to get it off. You can also use either the groove juice again, or brasso and clean small areas at a time, making sure you get it completely off before moving to the next area. Beware: Brasso, or any off the shelf brass cleaner like it WILL take the logos right off!!
