The Off World pads are amazing. the new one is the best one yet. alot of pads you have to change the way you play for a rim shot. this is exactly like any marching snare you could buy and its well worth the 65 bucks. i bought one and it was way better than any pad i have ever played on

If I had that much money to drop on it, I would get it. But for now, my ReelFeal will do.

I have one of the newest ones, a ReelFeel and a Rtom practice pad. It depends on what kind of application you're playing for. If you are practicing rudimental and marching, I would recommend a OffWorld pad, then a ReelFeel for the cheapo's. The Off world offers a built in rim, and a feel like no other. the biggest plus is that you can change the texture of the pad just by waxing, or washing with windex, it's either smooth & slick or tacky. The advances polymer they made the offworld pad out of is an impact resistant material, this material actually rebounds with MORE energy than you throw into it, so get a KEVLAR types feel. unlike the white or gray RF's.

But I've had my 12" double sided RF for at least 10 years and it has worked amazingly for any application.

The Rtom pad is just cool, small and has a unique rebound like a loosely tuned drumset. I like it. =)

Good Luck!

...I've been using a vic firth slimpad since they came out. a pad is a pad man. the slimpad might not be the best thing around, but practicing on a pad will never replace the importance of practicing on a drum... a real drum. I am not going to pay 65 bucks to hit rim shots in my bedroom...
