I have a set of the Pearl Elite fibreglass bongos and was thinking about buying the conga set to go with them. I am unsure if I want to get wood or fibreglass congas. Could somebody tell me the advantages of the Pearl congas over LP or other brands. How do the wood congas compare to the fibreglass etc ?
Thanx.

When you get right down to it all the brands high-end hand drums are good. We so have some features though that are exclusive to Pearl: The fiberglass congas are a good choice to pair with your fiber bongos. One thing you'll notice is that they're light - about a 1/3 less than the wood drums. They hold up better in traveling conditions due to the fiberglass durability, and they're slightly less expensive than the wood. I use fiberglass Pearl Elite drums when I play live almost all the time. Pearl features a rubber base at the bottom which give the drums more bass and low-end resonance when playing seated. The handles are not bolted permanently to the shell, but easily removeable with the supplied conga wrench. The hoops are our Contour Crowns - easy on the hands, and the skins are top grade buffalo. The better skins come from the back, or top of the animal, while lessor quality skins are from the underside. I sincerely suggest giving them a try.

Glen

Thanks very much for the quick response Glen. I will begin looking at prices on the net tonight.
