I currently have all of my sticks in a Leather Vic Firth mallet bag. It's very nice, however it's getting to small. I would like to upgrade to a bigger case. My drum instructor told me that when he was getting his music degrees, all the percussion students had these huge Vic Firth mallet suit cases. He said it was perfect because they would go on tour a lot. Apparently they don't make them anymore. What are other options? I'd like room for my tuning fork, ear plugs, metronome, and my tuner. Thanks in advance.

ive never heard of the vic suit cases, but the have large leather bags, idk if thats what you talking about but im pretty sure they make them. but the ip mb2 is probably the next best thing, but its pretty expensive, idk about the room for the small stuff (ive never seen it in person) i bought the steve weiss brand bag thats only $40 and has 2 large pockets on the out side of both sides that can hold the small stuff, i even carry spare heads in it some times. if you want an idea of what it looks like heres the links. and i can post some pics of mine if you want me to

Check out the Freer Percussion stick cases - formerly through Percussion Source and available in 3 sizes. The medium is a great "everyday" case for sticks, mallets etc. , and the small is perfect as a timp gig case - it will hold plenty to get your through the day.

This is a link to the old Tom Freer site. The products pictured are the old, non-ProMark versions. Now that ProMark has taken over the Freer Brand, the cases will be a little different. ProMark should have the new specs soon. Just FYI in case you were looking at these. There will still be 3 sizes but they might not look exactly like the ones pictured on the old site.

I carry a Balter MBMC Carry All Case. Holds a ton of mallets, and I've been known to throw my folder of music inside. I've had it now for 10 years, and you can't get much better in this price range.

I'm not sure I'm interested in a trunk, but i sure like those. I'm anxiously awaiting news of the new ones.
David, I'm really liking that bag. I think I'd fill it up really nicely, i really appreciate it.
Also, how does everyone keep their music? I have always kept it in sheet protectors within binders, but a lot of people use music folders, I've discovered from this board. I guess i should use my binder as a storage for past pieces and get a folder for current pieces.

I actually have one of the old VF suitcases. It's not all that conveinent. You need a stand to set it on as opposed to hanging from the bar. It's nice for timp or acc. parts where you change a lot but I don't recommend using it for everyday usage. The Weiss bag is nice. I've also got a ProMark that we're using and it's ok. The pockets on the PM are bigger which can be a pain cuz if they're not full the mallets fall over and aren't always easy to get to. The Weiss holds the mallets more securely but you're sacrificing quantity. Probably worth it.

I've been wanting a new stickbag too. I have the Kaces one, but it's just not big enough. I can't even close it and I want to add some more mallets to it, even some of the big ones (chime hammers, BD mallets, gong mallets). I have a budget of $40-50 and the Weiss one looks like it will do the job. Any thoughts?

Humes & Berg make a mallet case called a Big Mac that is fairly handy. It is a hard case that has room for mallets, sticks, accessories and even a tambourine and/or triangle.

People often ask why I have so many pencils. The reason is, costco is awesome! You can get like 500 pencils for 9 bucks. I always loose my pencils, so i just stuck a whole box in there, now I always have pencils, one of the most important tools for a rehearsal.
