Pearl Champion FFX. However, the Yamaha MTS or SFX are insanly good as well. Some will say to stay away from Dynasty because they have a rap for sounding terrible, but if you know how to tune, then you'll be good on any of those drums. Price range in order from cheapest to most expensive is-
-Dynasty
-Pearl Championship FFX
-Yamaha MTS

Its hard to say what the "best" snare out there is, It's a matter of personal opinion.
Every snare has benefits and drawbacks, then there is the personal vs line choice.
My personal and favorite for a line is the Pearl FFX 14" maple
great sound, great design, built like a tank.
drawbacks for me is: bottom head changes. they aren't fast, the tension posts bend outwards from lack of tension. you have to muscle them back in to thread the tension rod. It's a minor inconvenience at best.
second on my list is the Yamaha SFZ/MTS
Similar design to the FFX, Birch shell offers slightly darker snare sound then maple.
drawbacks for me is: the drums seems to have a shorter range of tunning compared to the FFX. They sound good at certain tunings but to get there takes a lot of trial and error. That and the over all costs. They are one of the most expensive drum on the market.
Third would be Premier
They did make a giant come back, the originator of the free floating design for marching snares. almost every premier snare I heard sounds fantastic (when tuned properly) the drawbacks were: poorly designed snare strainer, and availability in the states. Both of those issues have been addressed recently, however they are still on the higher price side.
fourth is Dynasty:
there is a lot of people I know who love their products, I'm just not a big fan of the sound or design, it is possible to get a decent sound out of a Dynasty snare. but it takes a lot of work. drawbacks are inconsistent hardware, poor design. however they have excellent customer service.
Quantium: I would hold off for now. They are brand new to the game. and even through they came out with production models, in the next few years the drums will be tweaked even further. Until they see how they hold up with the corps and indoor units this year. I would rather wait till all the kinks are out.
Ludwig I wouldn't even look at. The USA drum was a nightmare to deal with. sounded horrible. the hardware was inconsistent. we had one drum rust on us right out of the box.
all of this is just my opinion based on my experiences with those products. best advice is to gather as much info as you can, from as many sources to make an informed decision.
