Ok- here we go... The DCI season is about to get underway. Let's hear from all of our DCI fans on who you feel will take the gold in Indy?

Will it be the year for SCV? Can BD make it 2 in a row? What about the Cadets or Cavies... do you think Crown will make the jump into the top 5? Who is going to crack the top 12? Give us your picks and let's see how it turns out.

Here are mine, go ahead….start the debate.

World Class---

1- SCV
2- Cavies
3- Cadets
4- Crown
5- BD
6- Blue Knights
7- Phantom
8- Boston Crusaders
9- Bluecoats
10- Blue Stars
11- Spirit
12- Troopers

Yes, that correct- the Blue Stars and Troopers will make finals...

High Percussion.... Santa Clara Vanguard

Open Class---

1- Jersey Surf
2- Spartans
3- Vanguard Cadets
4- Memphis Sound
5- Raiders

High Percussion.... Vanguard Cadets

Now, understand there is no true answer here.... this is just for for fun. Let's see yours.... and let's watch this summer to see what happens.

:)

The corps that scores the highest will win <$1 to Jeff Ream>

It's still too early to predict finals outcome. This will become a popularity contest, and not based off of show content, cleanliness, execution, G.E., etc...

I'm willing to be a lot of people haven't even seen any corps complete show yet.

It doesn't matter, PR all the way. ;)

Phantom.

/thread.

But in all seriousness, it's far too early to even venture a guess.

Some corps (especially in Open) haven't even started move-ins.

But.

I doubt Spartans will be placing second simply because they lost so many kids this year.

I'm not ready to speculate a full top 12 lineup, but I DO think that its safe to say that Crossmen will be coming out of their slump and once again be in the top 12....

... but then again, I'm biased :p

I hear ya Bones!!

You deserve to be biased - you marched with a kick-*** corps! I as well hope they make it back where they belong. My nephew's best friend is a snare drummer with them and claims they are way better now than they were this time last year. Hope he's right!

I hold a special place in my heart for Bones so I hope they do well.

I'm in the same boat. I got to witness some badass Crossmen drum lines marching in Div III from '93-'96. Pretty much the entire '92 season is what got me marching. That badass show Big Bad and Blue by Blue Devils, the monstrous drum line Cavaliers put out and won their 1st championship, Crossmen's "Songs for the Planet Earth", which is still one of my favourite shows of all-time.

Crossmen '94 was highly underrated
Crossmen '95 was...ok.
Crossmen '96 was OH MY GOD! Open the show with a drum solo

Cavies....

I've seen them rehearse twice in the past week. Samurai is a winner! Battery is much stronger than last year, and the writing is fantastic! It's a musical and visual treat for the audience.

From what I've heard...Bones will be the deal.

Just sayin'.

Go to drumcorps planet forum - look under the Drumline colors thread on the second to last page. They look like counter tops. Here's a link.

Thanks for that, Jazzycat.

I need to hop back on the DCP forums again..

But seriously, those drums are horrible. I can't believe that.

Jazzycat1
06-18-2008, 09:54 AM
I know - ugly! I think they are going to change the baldric on the uniforms so I can only imagine it will be similar in color to the drums. Maybe the look will improve then. I hope they are praying to the tuning gods this season. Dynasty snares sound like ***.

Wow, those look horrible! However, I'm sure Paul Rennick will get them sounding ok.

icleangrandmas

Of course they look like countertops.

If you go to the section of Dynasty's website that shows all the finishes, it's from a company that designs...*cue trumpet fanfare* Countertops!!!

I don't get it, personally.

But I do like Dynasty drums.

That is how Dynasty keeps costs down. They don't provide custom lacquer finishes like Yamaha does for my old corps, all the DCI corps, etc...

I'm still not a fan of Dynasty snares or basses. They just leave me empty. Those new Mapex marching drums. YUMMMMMMMY!!! The saturn (walnut/maple) shells work so well on the field.

Oh man I hope the change something on the uniform.

Countertop + baby blue = LAME-O!!

I've heard ONE line have good sounding Dynasty snares, and it was a high school. If anyone can make them sound nice, Rennick can.

I've not gotten a chance to see or hear the new Quantam marching stuff. I know the pics looked kinda funky, IMO, but I'd like some sound.

The new Mapex drums are the jam.

Sound great, easy to work with, and affordable

I think they have a lot of potential to get some serious attention.

My tops would have to be SCV, Cavaliers, the Blue Devils, and I have a hunch Phantom is going to crack top 5 this year. They seem to have a good show planned. Its a Spartacus theme.

High Percussion.... Blue Devils or SCV

Phantom is in first place pretty much all around as of this morning. No shows tonight so it will be interesting to see tomorrow's scores. I can't wait to watch the Madison show online Saturday. Good lineup - some good DCA corps too!

Any of you folks going to be at the Championships? I'm not too pleased about the stadium situation, but you take what you can get.

Jazzycat1
06-26-2008, 05:50 AM
I was planning on going to finals but with all the mess about the stadiums I decided to stick to the San Antonio show for this year. I can watch Semis online - I might go to the theater to see quarters - depending on where Madison is placing at the time. I'm a Scouts honk big time so if they look like they are going to be in finals I will probably skip the theater this time.

Talon
06-26-2008, 08:32 AM
We're doing just the opposite, skipping San Antonio and seeing the finals. I might try to hit up another Texas show (maybe the Lake Highlands/Mesquite show), but I'm pretty busy this summer so I don't know if I'll have the chance. The Finals are pretty much the last thing I'm doing before I go to college.

Madison Scouts off to another awful season. Wonder if they'll come close to even making the top 12.

Well, God, you are full of as usual. The Scouts are doing just fine. Instead of trying to stir things up, why don't you go a goat.
