Nothing like a fresh clean start on the forums...
You should come marching Renegades next year! If you will be at DCA this year, you should definately check us out.

Renegades and myself don't get along so well. Lee, Rich and a few others and myself aren't the greatest friends.
Besides, I marched DCI Div III from 1993-1996 and DCA from 1997-2005.

This is my first year marching with them and I was skeptical about marching there because I have never been much of a fan of their persona and the way they protray themselves to the general public... but I assure you... the Renegades are not the same corps they were even a year ago. But I don't blame you for the ill feelings toward some associated with the corps. I think their years of pushing the envelope social has gone to the way side and has been replaced with some straight up great drum corps.
Coming from a senior corps that was not even competitive... to this... has completely changed my opinion of the senior corps activity. I just hope the reset of the DCA corps might change my opinion of DCA in general. We will see how it goes in august. I am excited to go out to Rochester since the corps I was with before had talked about it the 2 years I marched but could never make it happen.
I have to say this is the coolest show I have ever marched... even better than my 2 years in DCI Div.II finishing in the top 21 of the Div.1 corps.
I am the bearded bastard in the forefront.

Is Chris Correia in the line again this year? He's my brotha from anotha motha! I met him back in 2000 when he was working with Spartans and a small DCA A Class corps called Generations. He has the same last name as me. We both thought that was quite interesting.
Renegades leaving Dynasty? GREAT MOVE! Grenadiers have been Yamaha artists since 1999 and will probably never change. Especially not after we got those sweet red sparkle lacquer drums in 2004.

chris is on staff as the pit instructor/arranger. chris is awesome! i actually asked him if he was related to you a few months back and he said he wasn't but he knows you and told me that you pronounce your last differently than his... although it is spelled the same.
the small world of drum corps just keeps turning...

How so? It exposed people to drumming. Was it CORPS drumming? No, but there's nothing wrong with the showband style of drumming either. Just because something isn't your style doesn't mean it's wrong.

And just because you have two sticks and a drum doesn't mean you're a drummer...

Having sex with your drum isn't really the kind of exposure marching percussion needs.

That's not what show style drumming is. Is drumline an accurate representation of show style playing? No, however it is exposure of the activity and of music. Just because it's not a movie of the Cavies rehearsing for 3 hours doesn't mean it's a waste. Additionally, just because showstyle playing is not corps style doesn't mean it should be discounted either.
That would be like saying jazz players are inferior to rock players or vice versa.
