im just getting into making my own music, i tried the guitar thing, i tried the vocals thing, neither suites me. then i came to the realization that if i want to be a musician, i need to listen to the sounds of instruments. the drums are the backbone of a band. the drummer of mudvayne and slipknot are incredibly insane. they started me in my quest for an exellent drum set, but i dont know much abt drums, and i was hoping sumone would be able to help me find the best deal on a set and hopefully give me some information on the whole world of drums. plz help

1. get yourself a pair of sticks, a rubber pad and a metronome.
2. find a good teacher and tell him/her to start you with basic rudiments.
3. take 1 lesson per week for 1 month.

if you do these three things and take it seriously, you'll already be ahead of most garage-band drummers. you can also talk to your teacher about buying a kit. he/she may even be able to hook you up with a deal if he/she has a connection at a local shop. on the other hand, if after a month you decide that drums aren't your thing, you can thank me for saving you a few thousand bucks ;-)

good luck!

no problem . . if you have a few bucks to spend on the lessons, they'll be the best investment you make as an upcoming drummer.

best of luck :-) let us know how it goes !

Don't pass up looking for a good USED kit in the local paper - you can usually pick up a decent kit someone got bored of after a year, with cymbals and stuff, for significantly less than just a new kit alone.
