Freak, I have them. I will be using Ludwig Silver Dots on my rack toms and Ludwig 1-ply, clear heavy on my 14 & 16. Believe it or not, the 2-ply Pro -tones DO NOT sound bad at all. They are very similar to Evans G2's. Maybe a little heavier, if you like a more muffled sound without having to muffle, these heads work well.

Al, great to hear your comments. Thank you! I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with my Pearl products! First my Sessions and now my Visions! I upgraded to Opti's and Superhoops and if that's anything like what you guys may be planning for '08, alot of these guys who are holding out are going to be "blown away!" This kit sounds amazing, even with the stock skins. I've been playing for 30+ years so I hope I've developed somewhat of an ear by now(LOL). Great job by Pearl, I am a very happy convert!

Wow awesome kit man!!! I love the strata red finish :D Sick upgrades with the opti's indeed, and that white bass reso just mkes it sooo much classier. White reso heads make any kit look awesome. Cool setup as well, looks fun to play!

Thanks for the + words! I've actually changed the kit around a bit since those pics were taken a few months back. I hope to take some new photos soon. I would like to think that I'm one the guys that can be used as a good example for the folks who are considering going with opti's and 2.3's. This is my steady gigging kit these days and I get nothing but over-the-top compliments about the way it looks and most importantly, it's sound! I can't wait to get my VBX later this year, not that crazy about the new colors though.

Cool kit man.... I am placing an order for a 6 pc clear Birch as soon as I get my tax money. Are they a pro sounding kit?

CUZ, the new VBX is all birch as I'm sure you know. The VSX I currently own is the birch/basswood configuration, and also a wrap. I don't think the 2 kits are going to sound drastically different but I do feel the VBX will prolly have a more defined sound and not as much "low-end" as the combo-ply shell. Basswood is a softer wood which lends itself in theory to a lower frequency. Regardless, the VBX, I'm sure is gonna sound unbelievable! I'm looking at the natural finish myself, if the orange was a sparkle I would go that route but the pics look really plain.

Thanks for the input man, I will let you know once I get mine in hand. The clear Birch is a cool finnish. I am gonna do 2 rack 2 floor configuration.

Robbie,EC: Thanks for the kind words, unfortunately the VSX has moved on. I have gotten myself a nice, new shiny VBX in Concord Fade. I also did the upgrade thing with the Opti's, Master-Cast Hoops, and I replaced the black lugs with chrome Sessions Series. I've got pics posted but I plan on posting new photos because I've added the new hoops and I'm getting some new Saluda Brass!

I reckon that kit would go really well with the black hardware you took off the Concord Fade.

Blain, you are correct sir! It did, and it's new owner was quite happy with it!
