View Full Version : Selling Individual Vision Drums?

So I usually only play a bass, snare, floor tom configuration (mostly because I do a lot of gigging on small stages with a big band and one car... but also because my tom-tom head split and I didn't have time to replace it so I got used to playing without it).

When I saw the Visions, my original plan was get a new floor tom and bass drum individually, but then I got a deal and bought a shell pack for less than it would be to buy just the two individually. I was thinking of selling the two (at least one) toms I don't use on ebay because I need the cash, but then I was wondering... most people are buying the shell packs, and I probably won't get a good deal selling the individual drums because anybody who would buy them probably has them. Also, I'm guessing not many people are scouring ebay for Visions since they're pretty new.

On the plus side, it was the smaller sized shell-pack (the one with the 18x20 bass drum), so the toms are 8x10 and 9x12, which are different than the standard shell pack.

What are other people's thoughts? Is it worth it to try to sell them on ebay now? Should I keep them/play with them and sell them later?

P.S. I'm picking up my visions shell pack on Friday. Clear birch. Pictures are sure to come. I'm pretty much peeing in my pants (been playing a Tama Swingstar for far too long).

I think it'd be pretty hard to sell. Theres just not alot of people that have Vision sets and are looking to expand. That being said, the 12" is the most common sized tom, and will be even harder to sell than the 10". People can use the 10" to expand their standard size kits. The 12" comes with both standard and fusion sizes, so there's probably not much demand for it.

After the vision really takes off it will be easier to sell, more people will have one, and so more people will want the extra drums, if your selling a rack drum, the 10" one will be easier to sell.

Keep the drums! At least one tom! I don't believe it would be very wise to have a kit WITHOUT rack toms, you may need/want it in the future! I'd keep the 12" at least.

Yeah, I think I've decided to keep the toms for now, because at least one rack tom will come in handy. I will definitely end up selling at least one of them within a year or so though.

Thanks for the advice.
