Thanks for the compliments everyone!
I also love the Amber Fade with chrome hardware. Black hardware makes it look cheaper in my opinion.
I haven't noticed much of a difference between the 900 pedal and the P-120. To be honest I've only used a P-120 like 3 times, so I'm not the best person to compare the two, but they're pretty similar.

Nope, I chose Amber Fade. I remember someone else on this section of the forum getting Ruby Fade though. I think you got us mixed up.

Dude, how does it sound? I'm interested in getting 10, 12, 14 (floor), and 16 (floor). That looks like a 14 floor, and I haven't heard much about how they sound. I've heard the 16s are thunderous, but how is the 14? Is it 8 ply? How about the rest of the kit? Looks awesome!

It sounds amazing. It's VERY similar to the now "old" SBX's. I still have the ProTones on it, and I got it sounding VERY good. My floor tom is 14". I intended on getting the 10" 12" 16" configuration, but I simply couldn't wait for one to get up on Ebay so I kind of "settled" for the 14".
But the 14" isn't messing around. It has plenty of power to stand alone, and goes great with the 16". I'd say you can't go wrong getting both. I'm still not sure if it's 6 ply or 8 ply (I'm not good a reading bearing edges), but it IS a floor tom, and they say the floor toms are 8 ply.

Beautiful kit! At first I thought Amber fade would look sort of plain without the black hardware, but it's still beautiful. How is a bass pedal and hi hat stand? Also, WHATS WITH THE CYMBALS AND HEADS?!?!?!?!
Looking good!! Nice kit!!!!

I actually always thought the black hardware made the Amber Fade look lame. I'm not a big fan of black hardware. To me it looks like more of a "toy" than a pro drum kit. I was so happy when I found out about the VLXs having Amber Fade with chrome hardware.
The bass pedal is ok, it gets the job done. Nothing outstanding, but nothing bad. But I really love the hi-hat stand. It feels real nice and is built real sturdy.

The snare sounds great and the 900 hi-hat stand feels great. It's noticeably sturdier than the 800 and it responds really well. I'm impressed with the way it feels.

I love the badges, but I love the finish more. I just like the look of the front, most visible part of the tom with alot of shell showing.
I don't like how the badges are like half-visible though. I'm probably gonna move them to where they're facing me.

There isn't anything wrong with those heads. I've got them on one of my kits, they are far better than the single ply ones.

Nice color, but I hate how pearl only gives you a few colors to choose from when they have other colors...why can't you just have any color from the list?

If you're asking if the VLX comes in Ruby Fade, yes.
What I meant was, the colours on your drumset are really strong. It is not like this, your drums has to much red.
http://www.pearldrummersforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=278971&stc=1
I don't know how to say it, but your drums are really deep orange and red. And the drums on this pic are much softer.
Hope you understand me now.
Thanks

Matt - Yeah, I was actually a bit impressed with the 2-ply protones. It's definately a notable upgrade from the 1-ply.
Slip - Thanks!
All-American - The Visions are still brand new, and Pearl will probably expand the finish choices later down the road. It's not that easy to offer "every" color they have. That would completey change everything about their process of making them. And I wouldd think that the more finishes there are, the less efficiently they're made.
Hilbert - I think I get what you're saying. My orange and red are alot more "brighter", but in that picture, it blends and fades more nicely. That's actually because of the flash on my camera. When I'm looking at my drums, they look like the ones in that picture, real smooth. But when the camera flashes, they look really bright. And if I take the flash off, it's too dark to see them. I'll probably get some outdoor pics later down the road. That way they'll be lit up, but not by the camera flash.
Hilbert
05-24-2007, 02:55 PM
thanks that was what I meant. But now,you say it is the flash that cause the bright colour. Now I know I don't have to worry.

The Pro Tone heads that come with the Visions aren't that bad. I've played them a few times and they're way better than the single ply heads that come stock on a lot of kits. Of course, you're probably going to be changing them pretty quickly anyways, but still not a bad "out of the box" head.

Birch and basswood, right? Interesting combo.
Very nice kit. Any chance of getting some audio samples?
The Dorian
05-28-2007, 01:56 PM
I'm really impressed with the 2 ply ProTones. I got my set sounding really nice with them. The drums exceeded my expectations already even with the ProTones.
I can't get any audio samples soon. My old Forum is at my friends house where we record, and I'm scared of leaving my Vision over there. Sometime this summer, I'll record with them. Maybe in the next few weeks, but maybe in the next few months. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

BUMP! Just had to say those look really great. Also a few weeks back I was at Guitar Center just messing around with all the pedals on their little demo/practice pad display. I have to say the P-900 felt incredibly smooth and fast, even compared to the high end pedals next to it. I was very impressed. GREAT PEDAL!

AH! My thread's been bumped.
These pictures are so outdated! I have an ICON rack, Pearl Eliminator, Optimounts, 2.3 batter hoops, and all sorts of new cymbals. For those of you that didn't see my other thread, I just bought a VSX shellpack with sizes that are more to my liking. I'll take new pictures of both kits when the VSX comes in.
