Actually, there's already a sticky for posting pictures of Vision kits.
All-American Drummer

What I meant by that is a gallery where people showed pictures of THEIR sets, not sets in shows and stuff.

Well the sticky is for any and all pictures of Visions. Not just from the NAAM show.

Yay! Finally pictures of a Visions kit that somebody owns! I'm glad to say that ruby fade is still one of my favorite finishes (right up there with some masters and masterworks finishes such as diamond burst and scarlet fade).
are these better then export for whats the deal?
All-American Drummer
05-25-2007, 11:33 PM
Yeah they are better than exports by the hardware and the slight difference from the birch and popular, and they cost pretty much the same.

its actually birch and basswood....it def a step up from exports, even if it was just hardware and a new snare. The fact that its totally new shells makes it even bigger of a difference

Another question has arose from my mind. If Pearl has so many colors, why can't you pick one from a list to stick on your drums? Like I'd totally love it if i could get a black burst VLX with black hardware or whatnot.
Got_Milk
06-15-2007, 05:50 PM
To put it bluntly, "better" colors are an incentive to buy more expensive drums. The same goes with hardware color. To get more options, you have to pay more money. For instance, if you buy a masterworks kit, you can get pretty much any color and I think 4 hardware options, chrome, black, satin, and gold. Correct me if I'm wrong on the hardware colors, because I know they changed those after NAMM.
skywalker2
06-16-2007, 05:37 AM
some colors are just more expensive to apply as well.
Black burst was available for the elx so maybe we'll see it in the near future.
I think next years visions colors will be awesome.
Got_Milk
06-16-2007, 01:48 PM
Ya, but black burst is pretty similar to the black fade on the VLXs now, so I don't know if that color is high on their list to add to the VLXs. Maybe they'll add a new color, like blue. Something like marine blue fade would be awesome. But let's stop conjecturing and post more kits!
Danuk

nice stuff guys!

I dont reckon they will bring back the Black Burst or the Cobalt fade because they were both really popular colours and they wanna encourage people to buy more high end kits in any way they can. Just my two cents.
skywalker2
06-19-2007, 09:56 AM
i'm a little confused...only similar versions of those finishes are available on higher end kits( on the masters series) and it never changed anyone who was going to buy a masters to get an export of vice versa.
besides, the visions, while not a high end kit, is higher than the export on the pearl drum spectrum, so if we go by your logic, it would still work. :)

06-19-2007, 12:13 PM
i would want a master or reference or masterworks more if they did it in strata colours like exr and vxr
skywalker2
06-19-2007, 03:27 PM
you mean vsx? thats the vision version, and they wont be around for much longer, its all the left over exr stuff.
wow, out of all of pearls finishes offered on their high end kits, you would still choose a exr finish?

If the interiors are infact finished with some sort of sealer, then the only difference I see is cosmetic. I mean there's no doubt the outer ply is flawless, and the inside ply looks very nice too. I think Pearl is just using lesser grade birch for the core, which they even do for the Masters. The edges is where it's at. The black screws and inner label are a great touch.

My freind is a studio drummer in Calif and this sounds funny but he just purchased a Vision lacquer set and loves them. This is his first Pearl set ever he has had about 6 DW sets,2 hi end Yamaha sets and several others but he really likes this set.He told me the only way he will buy another really high end kit again is if he tours again. He said he is very very content with the Pearl Vision
line.As funny as thats sounds I have heard them my self at his rehersals and they really sound nice.

Good to know! After the VBX, the next birch kit in Pearl's line is the BRP which is a bit outta my price range. So I'm planning on getting the VBX and slowly upgrading heads, hoops, mounts, etc. I'm glad to know the shell's are still pretty close to your Masters BRX. Or perhaps closer to the old SBX Sessions?

O ordered it from The Long Island Drum Center out in Plainview New York if you know where that is. But What we did was order a basic Vision VBX Kit that already had 22X18 Bass, 10X9, 13X11 Rack Toms, and 16X16 Floor Tom and 14X6 Snare. And then we added on the other bass drum, floor tom, and rack toms and an extra bass pedal. Its the extra drums being ordered separate which are taking the 3 months. When I called and asked how long they said that the stock kit will take about a month to get in and this is whats taking so long. I really cannot wait for this kit. Ive played on Lars Ulrichs set once while it was on stock at the long island drum center. It was going for **** loads of money but I still got to play and and the feel of 2 bass drums is sooooo much better then a double pedal

man his set is so metal. I loved it. I dont think I got the exact sizes but I got pretty damn close to em. And Im talking about his set from the And Justice For All Tour back in 89'. So nice. Really wanted that but not a huge Tama fan haha. But his rack toms were freaking huge. I think his smallest tom was 12 inches??? This is like a mix of a Lars Ulrich set and Joey Jordisons.

Neither am I. I don't know why, they're really great drums. But something about them just doesn't appeal to me for some reason. Maybe I'm just a Pearl guy. :D
So, to add to this thread... I was 'this' close to ordering a Clear Birch VBX until I saw the VLX on clearence at Musician's Friend for $530.99 (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Pearl-Visions-VLX-5Piece-Fusion-Drum-Set?sku=444777). I couldn't pass it up! So I ordered the VLX925H fusion kit w/ 22x18 bass, 10x8, 12x9, 14x11 toms, and 5.5x14 snare. Now I just need to find 8x7 and 16x13 toms before they're all gone! I wonder how long we can still special order VLX add-ons from Pearl?

Well I just got a call from the manager of the Long Island Drum Center and the first half of my set came in!!! w00t! First half is...
22X18 Bass
6X14 Snare
12X9 Rack Tom
13X10 Rack Tom
16X16 Floor Tom
And what ever hardware comes with it =]
Bad news is that I still have to wait another 2 freaking months until the other half comes in
22X18 Bass
10X9 Rack Tom
14X11 Rack Tom
18X16 Floor Tom
Im still trying to decide if I should go pick up the first half, set it up, and play the hell out of it. But I want to wait the other two months for the rest of my set so I can play the hell out of all 9 drums!!!! I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO?!!??!?!?!? What do you guys think I should do? Pick it up, play it get the next part? Or pick it up and leave it in the boxes in the corner until I get the rest?

pick it up and leave it in the corner. so you know that some new employee or someone who doesn't know it's yours doesn't sell it. also if you d get the urge to play it you can set it up

Pics of my new VMX can be found Here (http://www.pearldrummersforum.com/showthread.php?t=200682&page=2). I also posted a sound clip of the kit using room mics.
I'm also waiting on the 22x18 kick, 14x14 floor tom, 13x10 rack tom, heads and a buttload of hardware, so I'll post pics here when I get it completed.
I played a vision, really impressed. I had brx kits in the past, but the vision I played with the stock heads gave me a better sound than my brx's.
I am starting to think I don't like die cast hoops!
Loved everthing about the vision except the badges, drums are hi end all the way.

Hey man,
The 14" Floor tom cost me around $140, it took about 4 weeks to come in. I dont know why it was such a short wait, but I'm sure glad I went to the guys I went to!

Ntime, that is a sick setup. That's exactly what I want, but with a 10 next to the 12, and black hardware. Mmmmm..... I just wish the drum shops around here would set up a Vision kit. Frickin' GC in Country Club Hills always has the same kits set up. They must not sell a lot of stuff.

port hole in the reso head makes the attack clearer, a bit stronger, and the resonance less. Takes the "Boom, Boominess" out of a bass drum.
