The drums were just so beautiful, and i played a set of vlx at GC and i was blown away! The finish was gorgeous and the hardware was top notch..those are the main reasons I guess...

I'm coming home to Pearl after a year in the Mapex camp. I picked up a Mapex Pro M kit last year. I had been a lifelong Pearl player prior to that and I really liked some of the things mapex does- plus I just wanted to change things up. I still have my 1998 Export Kit, in fact. The Pro Ms are cool, the kick drum sounds amazing! But when I switched brands I also switched sizes, going from the standard sizes to fusion sizes. At first it was cool but I REALLY miss the low end from the larger drums.

I know that the Visions could be considered a step down from the Pro Ms. BUT the price is amazing, they're made by PEARL, and I've never had a lacquer kit before, all wraps. So the VLX seems like a nice way to get into a lacquer kit without breaking the bank. I'm really thinking it over, I absolutely need to see and play a VLX before I do anything.

Congrats on your new VLX, too bad red isn't my color, but otherwise, its a beauti. My favorite one's is the clear birch and black fade
