When I visited my local shop yesterday, I noticed they had a bunch of new kits on the floor, including a brand new Vision Series kit in the black fade finish. Al was spot-on in his characterization of this finish - it is nearly indistinguishable from the Reference Series' Twilight Fade, has pronounced wood grain visibility, and just looks plain expensive. Though the kit wasn't set up for play, tapping on the toms yielded a warm, resonant tone. I have a feeling these things are going to give the entry/mid-level market a run for their money!

I will be going back there this week to get a couple of odds and ends - I will try to snap a few for you! But truly, think Twilight Fade, but perhaps a hair darker overall. It's very sexy.

thats cool. New Drum Shop gear is always awesome. Its like a friend got a new kit and you get to watch him open it and set it up. My local shop is due to receive a NEW WATERFALL BUBINGA DW next week. I'll definitely be taking pictures. Also, some guy ordered the DW EQ Snare, and I'll get pictures of that if I get there before he does

It is a super UV high-gloss finish. As you stated, a very professional high grade finish. The top clear coat is super shinny and the lacquer fade looks as you say almost indistinguishable from the Reference Twilight Fade. This was my very first impression of it, a super high grade professional finish that looked like it belonged on a high end kit, not a mid-priced kit.

I had a similar experience to Shaggy with the natural birch finish. Man, did it look great, and the wood grain was beautiful. It was stacked up, so I couldn't play it, but everything, from the gaskets to the new lugs, looked fantastic. Definitely thinking about it for an upgrade from my p.o.s. kit :)

I bought that kit from Chuck's about two weeks ago. The kit sounds amazing with the right heads on it, it sound alot like the BRX. I am very happy with them. Mike, i met you before at Chuck's a while back. Me, you and Paul were talking for while. Anyways, the Vision is a true winner in my book.

Cat Birch? this is birch and basswood, the vision...
Im gonna be REALLY dissapointed after all this hypeing if it doesn hold its own against the Cats and Mapex's that cost twice as much.

you meant just the mapex's right? Cause cats are anything but expensive...then again as good of a rep that the cb's have, i have yet to hear them be compared to brx's and sbx's the way the sessions have.
