I want a 24" crash.
I found FINALLY the K Light Ride 24" forsale and its 400$ so forget that im not spending 400$ on suttin id use just as a crash. But does anyone know of any rides that are 24" and good for crashing? ive heard the 24" Avedis series medium ride is not a very good crash (unless someone has played or heard otherwise) but i was looking for a 24" and so far noooo luck..
Just wondering if anyone knew of anything thatd work.
The K Light Ride is nice... But just not what I was looking for.
K and K Customs are not high enough volume for my playing and are just to dry and jazzy.

24" are heavy to withstand extreme power. i would never consider a 24" ride because it would simply be to big and heavy to crash, more like a gong.
ive got an AA 21" rock ride which is a bit big to crash. if you want a ride you can crash look at 20" lighter models. companies will not normally make 24" crashes unless theyre custom made.
hope i shed some light on the matter

Sheds more light on the matter.
I am only online for a minute or two so I can only list them out.
Now, these are all Paiste
2oo2:
24" ride
24" Crash (not custom :D)
Giant Beat
24" Ride
Also look into the 22" models of the 2oo2 ride and crash I mentioned.
Hope it helps

with the music it sounds like youre going to make with these cymbals, it wouldnt matter in the slightest what you used to beat the **** out of, the people listening wouldnt care how it sounded, more if their fringe was still covering their eyes..

Ok, I have a few more minutes.
What is wrong with that statement (and I don't want to sound like I am giving out here) is that cymbals are different weights.
I will use 3 examples for this
The 24" Paiste RUDE mega bell ride monster thing (extra heavy)
The 24" Paiste 2oo2 ride (med heavy)
The 24" Paiste Giant Beat (med light)
The first one is basically a gong when crashed due to its weight and thickness with more metal be be excited when struck to make a crash.
The 2oo2 ride is lighter thus more crashable and I use the 22" 2oo2 ride and that's a fantastic crash ride. The cymbal is not as thick so there is less metal to excite to crash it.
Finally the Giant Beat is a medium light cymbal and fantastically crashable.
So, gumgum, I hope ya found that helpful. Just something to keep in mind. Just cause its huge doesn't mean that cant be crashed.

Rob

I don't know much about 24" rides but I know that in the 22" range you can find many that are crashable. All cymbal makers have lighter models in the 22" range that are crashable from the chinese made crash/rides of Dream cymbals, to Saluda to the big three.
dude get the 24" Rude mega bell ride. it's the most uber crash evaaaaaaaaaaaa.
get a giant beat.

it would have to be pretty damn thin to get a good sound out of it
i could never imagine me using a crash bigger than a 19" or a ride bigger than 22" (but i hate crashing rides so it dont matter what i think)

Saluda make a 22" Crash Ride for 169.99 in the Hybrid Metal Series
here is the description of the series
This is a newly added series of fine B20 bronze alloy and fully hand crafted. This series features all heavy weights. You will be amazed at the response, fullness and complexity from these dominating cymbals. With these on your kit, YOU WILL BE HEARD! This series directly competes with all with all other heavy weighted cymbals by any other cymbal company. This is one of the first series to use extra heavy weights in a b20 alloy designed for those who need maximum volume, projection and sustain - nothing but POWER!

He uses a K 20" crash/ride, 21" sweet ride, and 20" Oriental Crash of Doom for crashes.
24" K light ride as ride.

OK enough banter gentlemen...
If you're thinking of crashing a 24" cymbal it probably wouldn't matter what sort of cymbal you use because your gonna have to hit it so gaddamn hard it wouldn't matter. If you're after a larger crash cymbal that still has a voice you could try some of the larger z custom projection models. i don't really like them myself but or any of the z's but they're designed to be played loud

I wouldn't think that that would be the case if he goes for the Paiste 2oo2 ride, crash or the Giant Beat. ;
EDIT: Reason being the weight side of the things I explained above.

I am hoping that you came up with this conclusion from playing them and not sound clipping?
But, having said that the Paiste sound clips are very accurate.
Just advising not to give up on 24 inchers till you played them

The 22"/24" Crash craze is one of those fads that come and go. They will have their run and Paiste will discontinue them in a few years.

K rides are the most UNCRASHABLE cymbals ever..
weird, cause one of the points they're touting about the new 24" k light ride is the fact that it has some interesting crash dynamics.
