These drums sound really nice. If someone stole my export kit today, I might buy a set of these.

sell your export, its better then having them stolen unless you got some kind of insurance.

lol, you need to be very very sneaky to steal them from me.
And anyway why would you steal thoes when you could steal my cymbals and sell them for a lot more?

Its hard for me to say for sure without hearing the guy talk normaly... but in that video everything he said seemed verrrrry scripted and forced.

I feel that if a person is going to endorse a product like that... having them tell you about it should seem no different than if they were telling you how they really felt about it in a face to face private conversation. Otherwise it seems like nothing more than a company trying to profit.

Honestly I was very unimpressed with the sound in the video. I think they can make that kit sound much much better. I've heard a lot of export recordings which in my opinion sound better than the vision video. I really think they could have done a better job with tuning/micing, especially for a promotional video.

well they where using stock heads, that is a big factor, and the recording was prob the camera sound, even though it was miced ,..

I'm sure with the right heads, right tuning, that kit will be killer, and the bass drum is a cannon,..

i thought the sound was great in the video, i personally would rather hear what the drums sound like truly accoustic, without being mic'd and eq'd.

Yes I too want to hear a mic'ed eq'd kit but I honestly think they could have done a much much better job with the sound in the video.

actually what i meant was i wish they were not mic'd and eq'd in the video so i can hear what they truly sound like without eq.

You can find the video if you go to the visions page under the main pearl page. Then click on the video link on top of the picture of the drums.

MOrgan is a fav of mine. The kick and snare sound fine but doesnt play the toms much and when he does I personaly think they suck. correct me but I thought less plys and thiner shells made darker tones and more low end.

OK I just talked to my friend who goes to University of Central Arkansas and he said they got a Vision kit for the pep band and it looks and sounds amazing. They are using Evans ec2 i think. So maybe that video doesn't do the drums justice.

Visions are already available to the public?? Well Dang. I'm hoping to hear more recordings of the Vision.

i take that as an open invitation to steal your gear

The new Vision series looks like promising drums. Lots of nice new features on top of a better shell, choice of wrap or lacquer, and new hardware. I like how they mic'ed them up, but I'd rather hear them unmic'ed. I'd pick a Vision over the new maple export actually.

But I don't get why Morgan is Pearl's go-to guy for promo video. I mean I love his playing, but his speech and delivery is stiff, and kind of comes of as scripted. I'd rather hear from Gene or somebody in R&D about new products. Just a thought.

Its not an open invitation, until I need an excuse to get new drums. My girlfriend doesn't understand why i need 4 snares nevermind why i need a new drumset, while holding onto my old one. (I'll probably upgrade past the Visions anyway but i wish they had these when i was first learning how to play)

I've officially defected from Tama for the Visions.

The toms did sound horrible in the video. IMO. But because of the protones I'm sure. What do you guys think of Aquarian studio x's on these? I havent played birch/basswood with studios and cant say how thay will sound. I'm afraid they may sound too dark/dead. Even though the studios are one ply, they are fairly heavily muffled.

And yes, the best way to find out is try em. But I like to buy all my gear in bulk. The typical starving musician.

Well, the snare sounded good but he only hit the toms maybe two times so I couldn't really get a good idea of what the actual Vision drums sound like.
