I'm pretty sure that you can buy a slave pedal attachment to turn it into a twin pedal. If Pearl is willing to do that, then it also makes sense to me that they would make a regular twin pedal for the 900 series.

I just picked up a couple of the BC-900's yesterday for the great price of $72 a piece. GREAT hardware. I love the Unilocks. Very sturdy all-around. The stands also saw their first night out last night. The first of many. haha. But yes, good hardware especially considering the price.

rhythm_traveler_07

there just regular plastic wingnuts (sort of like the tama roadpro's) but they have metal sleeves in them to prevent stripping, or I guess thats what the metal part is for.

There are great differences. The 800 has smaller, old school rubber feet, its not as sturdy, not as stylish, different bracing on the legs, and the BIGGEST difference is the gearless tilter on the 900, whereas the 800 has a cheap, geared tilter

awesome! What about the tubing? I always hated that the 800 series tubing would slim down a little bit before the ends. (i.e. just before the cymbal seat on the hi hat.)

It seems to me that the new 900 series is just a revamp of the older 855 series from a few years ago. It was discontinued when the 1000 and 2000 series hardware was released. The 1000 series gear is just an upgraded version of the 855 stuff...

So it seems as if the new 900 is essentially a newer remake of the 855 series, designed for more people on a budget the cant afford the 1000 series.
Take a look at that snare stand above. It looks EXACTLY like the late model 855 snare stand, only with a few of the newer Pearl upgrdes, such as the feet and tube joints.

That said, I love it so far. I was always a big fan of the 855 series, and have wanted to track down a few more of those stands. Now it looks like I wont have to.

I'm seriously considering selling all of my RoadPro hardware and picking up this stuff for my practice kits. We'll see about that soon...

The 900 series technology-wise is nicer cleaner than the older 855W and 855WL series. Both use similar uni-lock systems, although I have to admit, I liked the counterweight on the longer 855WL. Also the 855W came complete with stop locks on each pipe joint setting.

I agree on the counter weight, and the locks were nice.

But, considering that at that time, the 855 series was Pearl's top-end.
Since they've introduced the 1000 series, and now the cheaper 900 series, I can see why they chose to leave a few features out, otherwise there wouldnt be much point in upgrading even more to the 1000 series gear.

I couldn't get the link to work, but I've seen your group photo of the hardware pack. Looks like the pedal has a slot for the toe stop assembly, but it's hard to say without a close-up shot. After looking at the 04' parts catalog, there are two different toe stop assemblies available. One for the eliminator pedals, and one for the 201, and 101 series.

Your setup looks sweet so far, update?

As in a closeup picture of the pedal?

I couldn't get the link to work, but I've seen your group photo of the hardware pack. Looks like the pedal has a slot for the toe stop assembly, but it's hard to say without a close-up shot. After looking at the 04' parts catalog, there are two different toe stop assemblies available. One for the eliminator pedals, and one for the 201, and 101 series.

Your setup looks sweet so far, update?

Yeah, if it's not too much trouble, or just take a close look at your pedal to see if there is a slot towards the top. I'm really leaning towards a vision kit, and I really would like to be able to add a toe stop to the pedal. If I can't, I'll look towards getting the shell kit by itself and a 1000 series pack.

There are two threaded holes. Not a slot. So I geuss there are only two positions you'd be able to place the stop.

I saw the induvidual photos and I can see the two small holes your talking about. Pretty sure you can mount one there,.............but which one? I'll see if I can get Gene or Al to answer that in the fist aid section.

Thanks again.

Both holes are threaded, and the same size.

How much do those 900 Boom Stands weight? I'd love to have a lighter alternative to the B-1000 stands

they probably arent that much lighter, but enough to warrant the difference betweent he two series. I know that they lack memory locks, but i don't think that it adds a tremendous amount of weight.

Many people who have tried them out/own them have commented on the noticable beefy-ness of these stands over the 800 series.

Not sure. Gene Okomato says the eliminator toe stop will work.
