View Full Version : New Idea: Colored Eliminator Footplates

I was thinking, everything with the eliminators is color oriented. . .between the cams and all. . .I think it would be cool to see add-on Colored Footplates, and/or. . .colored versions of the removable foot traction rubbers. Like. . .clear, white, blue, red, green, pink, brown, yellow. . .or stuff to match the rest of the pedal, like a titanium/aluminum/chrome color, or something to match the color of your kit. . .vintage sunburst??. What do people think of that?

Since I'm using the black cam, my footplate
already matches.

Nobody but you would even see it anyways
so what's the point?

I have to say it's a little overboard. Bigjohn has a very valid point, noone is gonna see it so who cares if it matches? I do like the rubber grip idea though, but it doesn't have to be colored. Does Pearl have those and if so how much? I've never seen 'em.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I'm not sure about colors... but the idea of a "natural metal" footplate seems cool... I think Wickerman said in another thread that he took paint stripper to his, then buffed them so they were a shiny metal that matched the pedal. This probably looks very cool.

I think it's a good idea, especially if it helps someone play better. Little things can make a big difference. Cheers, Prank :D

Hey!!!! No one complains when people swap out their brake/gas/clutch and dead pedals in their cars. I think it is a great idea. Customization to your flavor. The day that we don't offer choices is the day that we give in to communism. I'll be the first customer for a set. Visa or Mastercard?

If you must have a designer color for your
footplate, you can always go down to the
hardware store and buy a can of spray
paint and do it yourself.

Personally, I think it's silly, but who am I
to say you should or shouldn't.

I've seen some crazy thrones too in some crazy colors. . .and for 4 or 5 bucks, i think it would be kinda cool to be able to have custom footplates to match. This idea arose. . .well early in the morning and i just wanted some opinions. But. . .opinions against mine are always appreciated though. Thanks guys. If this totally gets counted out. . .i guess we would spare pearl the hassle of creating a bad selling item.

nah, it doesn't really matter cuz you're not staring at your pedal while playing anyways, you're too busy stomping it with your foot/feet.

The rubber footplates would be cool, cause I usually play barefoot

Rubber footplates would be interesting. There's an idea. They might not be very durable though.

I don't have a see thru foot, so the idea seems pointless to me as I would never see it. The black wears off anyway, so wouldn't the coloured foot board wear too?

I say its overboard but...

Black
Grey
White
Clear
Silver
Chrome
Mirror
Gun Metal
Leopard Pattern
Physcidelic Acid Trip Swirlies
Smiley faces
Blinking Lights (Similar to L.E.D.'s for guitars, but on the pedal)

I don't think I would bother with different colors but a lot of you say that no one will see the pedal anyway...well I am a very sad individual and sometimes I just go and look at my drums (but not smell them like I read someone claims to do!!) I guess it's like designer underwear, 99% of the time no-one will see them but if it makes you feel better...go for it!

heres what I could see it being good for:

say you're at a concert and you've got the following pedals:
2 bass drums
hi hat
remote hat
trigger

that's five+pedals! Some bright, neon colors could make it easier to know which one's which. I would normally just use spray paint in these situations, but the pedal board idea would be cool too. It gets a yes vote from me

it's an alright idea, considering people who want it can have it, and people who don't dont need to have it

i'd like to have a teched out chrome/silver footplate like David Silveria's iron cobras
