Hi i could do with the help of everyone on this one.
My mates dad has offered me this snare at £50
i havent been intending on buying a snare at the moment but it does sound a rather nice price.
i was wondering if anyone has experience of using this drum,or could give me any indication of how it sounds and if its worth the money, keeping in mind im not on the look out for a snare at the moment.
its a:
Gretsch Snare of the Custom Classic series from 1990. It has Remo Weatherking Coated Powerstroke 3 Batterside and a Remo Ambassador clear on snare side.. Finished in Gloss Black.
Thanks in advance. :)

i should have explained what I said, at that price, you can buy it, hate it and sell it for a huge profit. but I think anyone here would be shocked if you don't like it.

its one of the earlier renown maple snares, or predecessors to the renown maple. A good drum.
These are what the old renowns looked like http://www.gear4music.com/prodimg/rmmt_col_200.jpg
The snare definantely isnt a catalina birch , since they only came out in late 2002/early 2003...
is it really a renown maple? did they use the same lugs as the catalina/blackhawk i have?
here are the oter pics from the auction, they do look really similar to mine and i am definitely sure mine is not a renown
