Hey, just wanna ask those of ye with experience and knowledge of the Master Series kits. I've always wanted to get a 5 piece kit of it but not sure what type. I've been busting my balls now for quite some time saving money. At the moment I've a Session Series kit, gonna pass it on to my brother(two of us are gigging-time for his own kit!)
I've read many an article about the different types e.g MMX, MRX, MHX and BRX
But still not 100% sure on the model to suit me
I play in an indie/rock band, nothing too heavy (Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics stuff like the Chili's etc)
Also what type of model is Chad Smiths in the "Can't Stop" video-looks awesome!

MRX or BRX. I prefer the sound of maple for the most part, so I ordered an MRX kit. Both kits should work well in live situations.

I would probably get MRX seeing how it's the most versatile and also records great.

Why do you say it is the most versatile?

I would deifnitly go MRX for the versitility.
Chalk up another for the MRX. I'm partial to maple and I don't care for reinforcing rings.

It's actually pretty personal.
I may say it's a good rock drums if I like the way it sounds in rock settings, or I may say it's good for jazz if I like the way it sounds in a jazz setting.
I like the way BRX sounds in any setting I've heard it in, that's why in my opinion it's good for anything.
MRX though is ecxellent too, and I like how sounds for jazzy stuff however some may not neceserrily like how it performs in a jazz setting.
So, to my taste BRX sounds good in any setting + it's very easy to record that's why I said that it's the most versatile.

I wouldn't say that it's a matter of opinion - technically Maple is the most versitile considering that it has the widest dynamic range of all of the woods.

to me the MRX is versatility only if you're moving thru differents kind of rock style, or funky.
But if you want to play it all to me the best is the MMX, if you need more dry sound with good definition, you have to turn up the bolts, and you are ok, or if you need a more mellow and warm sound, go with ambassador coated or emperor clear.....you'll be on right every time.
Yes, MRX have more projection, but in live session, you'll play always with Microphones on your drums.
That's my opinion, anyone could disagree, but that's normal.
Repeat it is just an opinion of mine

Hi there.
MRX has Mastercast hoops, and some other lugs than SRX have.. MRX has Remo heads on the start, srx ProTone. And MRX has a lot og colers. SRX has 6...

The cost factor versus the sound is not worth it in my personal opinion..
