well, what are some overheads in the $250 range? in other words, what ones are good?

A lot of people here recommend the Studio Projects B1's. You can get 2 of them for 240 bucks.

well, the ones i have are pretty great (for the price).
samson c-01 condenser mics. 70-80 bucks each.
read some reviews and almost all are positive.
