Okay I'm looking to trigger my bass drums now. What are the best bass drum triggers on the market? Also the easiest ones to hook up? I don't have Axis pedals so those triggers are out of the question.

DDrum Acoustic Pro with XLR the XLR connection......ive used the Roland, and both DDrum triggers (redshot and pro), and for the price....the PRO whoops some seriuos ***. Very responsive. But the thing you gotta realyl be concered about is the drum module ur going to run the trigger to. And how are u going to record the trigger?? direct into one of you line inputs on ur interface? or through MIDI??

I would like to use the drum sounds I have at my disposal in the program Reason. I would be using midi to trigger the sound.

You will need something that will convert the trigger signal to midi. You could use any cheap module (Roland TD-3) or the Roland TM6. You will also need some type of midi input to your computer.
Do you have any of this stuff?

I have a usb midi interface. How do I get my two bass drums to go into one midi in port though? I want to trigger the both of them. Not just trigger one with a double pedal.

You need something to convert the trigger signal to midi. That is going to be either a drum module or something like the Roland TM6. Either of those will have many inputs, so that you can trigger two bass drums.
You will then run one midi cable out of the module into your usb midi interface. The module will convert the trigger signals into midi and send midi info to your PC.
There is some setup required on both the module end and software end to make things work, but I have not done this and won't be of much help in that area.

okay. Well my dad has setup triggers on his drum set before but has these ****ty triggers that you're supposed to tape on the drum head. so he would be able to help me setup once I get the ddrum triggers.

I've used these types of triggers in the past.
I wouldn't call them ****ty. However, they were wrong for my application.
In fact in terms of trigger accuracy, they were quite good as they are stuck directly to the drumhead, and pick up quite well.
My problem with them was that they were flimsy when gigging and would end up breaking. Also very inconveniend should you need to change a broken head. For my kit that stays set up in my basement, they did work fine. For gigging, I use the DDrum and Roland triggers.

You still haven't mentioned whether you have something to work as a trigger to midi converter. So, do you have a module or something, because triggers and a midi interface for your PC won't work.

Serge I don't own any ddrum triggers. They are crappy triggers made by Pulse.
for the post above mine, yes I have a module. I have everything I need except the ddrum triggers.

I use the roland triggers, never ever had a problem with them. A good friend of mine also has the higher quality ddrum (I forget the name), which also work very well.
The only thing i have to say is stay clear of the red shot triggers (cheaper ddrums). I have used them and seen them used, they never seem to work out quite right.
Hope that helps
