I might pick them up since they are small and will go well with the new kit i am building
.
are they good for recording?

Small mics work great for live performances, and they would do an okay recording job, but it's usually best to have full size mics for recording.

If you like a really clicky/punchy/tight bass sound, the D6 would be good. In the pics it looks like it comes with an i5, which is a great snare mic, but in the package I don't think it comes with it. You'd need (well, not need per se, but it'd be hard without em) 2 overheads, and then a snare mic. It'd be better to buy a bass, snare, and 2 overheads, and maybe 2 cheap tom mics instead.

I knew someone who had those.. They sound pretty good actually. His toms sounded like crap but I don't think he knew how to tune or record properly.. And the kit was like a pearl forum or something lol

Take a look at this http://cgi.ebay.com/AUDIX-D6-i5-2-MXL603-DRUM-MICS-PACKAGE_W0QQitemZ260036583484QQihZ016QQcategoryZ41 465QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Comes with an Audix D6, an Audix i5, and two MXL 603's...all for $385 after shipping costs. There's also an auction by that same seller for a D6 and three i5's, so add $200 more onto that for a pair of 603's and you're at $585...only $85 more than that Travis mic pack, with a snare mic, two better tom mics, and two overheads. Great deal if you ask me!

EDIT: You could even save some more money by buying the 1st auction (D6, i5, two 603's) and then buy two more i5's at around $80-$90 each, so then you're at $545-$565.

Yea, it is a really nice pack, especially for the price. I'm really not a fan of the D6 though, but I love the i5 on amps and a lot of people love it on snare too.
