ddrum redshot bass drum triggers

i was checking these out and noticed they offer 2 versions on musicians friend, one with a 1/4" jack for $25 and one with an XLR jack for $60. is the signal loss and/or line noise significant enough to warrant spending the extra cash for the XLR ones?

Hi Pazuzu,

The redshot is the cheaper one with a quarter inch jack. The Pro model is the one that costs $60. To answer your question, the piezo element is the same in both, it is only the more robust housing of the Pro model that causes the difference in price. I own both of these, and to be honest, for a bassdrum where there is really no chance to accidentally hit the actualy trigger, the redshot should work just fine. For the toms and snare the Pro series are better, and the Pro snare trigger is a "dual zone" with the correct cable.
